The Glory of Journalism: A Noble Profession

In 2024, it will be the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024). Journalists in Thanh Hoa province in particular and the whole country in general are proud to always accompany the development of their homeland and country. Regardless of the period, journalists always remember the advice of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons. To fulfill their glorious duty, journalistic officials need to cultivate revolutionary ethics", worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State and People.

The Vietnamese revolutionary press began with the birth of Thanh Nien newspaper, founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc on June 21, 1925. Up to now, it has gone through 99 years of development, growth, and accompanying the nation. Guided by Uncle Ho and directly led by the Party, for nearly a century, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always played the role of a sharp weapon on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, making a great contribution to the overall success of the revolutionary cause of the country and the nation.

99 years of pride

Accompanying the national press, in recent years, Thanh Hoa press has made strong progress in terms of scale, quantity and quality. The team of journalists has continuously grown and matured, received basic training, has solid political qualities, good professional qualifications, and contributed positively and effectively to the socio-economic development, the consolidation of national defense and security, and the strengthening of the Party building and the political system.

Thanh Hoa currently has key press agencies including: Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Provincial Radio and Television Station, Thanh Van Nghe Magazine. The team of journalists in the province currently has nearly 600 people working in the provincial press agencies and representative offices, resident reporters of central press agencies and press agencies of other provinces and cities operating in the province. There have been 365 journalists and reporters admitted to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association and working in 5 grassroots journalist associations.

Over the years, with their spirit, responsibility and love for the profession, Thanh Hoa journalists have promoted their pioneering role, actively propagating important political events of the country and the province, spreading the Party's resolutions at all levels to all walks of life and society. Notably, press agencies and journalists have actively promoted the Resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels; Resolution No. 58-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2020 on building and developing Thanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, contributing to arousing pride in Thanh Hoa homeland in every cadre, party member, armed forces and people of all walks of life, encouraging and motivating everyone to strive to compete and successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in the resolution; by 2030 Thanh Hoa will become a new growth pole, together with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, becoming the northern development quadrangle of the country; By 2045, the province will be rich, civilized and modern; a comprehensively developed and exemplary province of the whole country.

Accompanying the development of Thanh Hoa province, press agencies and journalists have reflected vividly, promptly and comprehensively on the political, economic and social life of the province; reflected existing problems, limitations and concerns at the grassroots level, helping the provincial authorities grasp and handle them promptly, contributing to stabilizing public opinion. The journalists have promoted the beautiful image of Thanh Hoa land and people to friends at home and abroad. Along with that, through articles, they have contributed to helping those in difficult circumstances, helping them overcome their fate. Thanh Hoa journalists have written and brought journalistic works imbued with the breath of life. Surely readers of Thanh Hoa and the whole country in general will always remember the historic flood of Sa Na, Na Meo commune (Quan Son) in 2019, which took the lives of many people, swept away houses and crops. Despite the danger, journalists and reporters were present in the flood area to update information as quickly as possible to readers across the country. Later, when "Sa Na revived", journalists and reporters continued to inform readers of beautiful images of a Sa Na overcoming the flood, life sprouting in hardship. Or when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the team of journalists did not hesitate to rush into the hot spots of the epidemic, reflecting the hardships and dangers of the medical staff in the epidemic area to save lives and care for the sick; about the good humanity in villages and neighborhoods that support and help each other to overcome the epidemic. The beautiful image of Thanh Hoa people is also reflected through the example of the disabled teacher without arms, Le Thi Tham (Dong Thinh commune, Dong Son district); The touching story of two students Ngo Minh Hieu - Nguyen Tat Minh, Dong Thang commune, Trieu Son district...

Light up love for the profession

From the journalistic works that were forged from the dedication and hard work of journalists and reporters, high-quality journalistic works have been created, recognized by readers. Not only contributing to the development of the homeland, excellent journalistic works, bringing the breath of life, have won many prestigious awards at national journalism awards, national journalism awards on Party building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award), specialized journalism awards, Tran Mai Ninh journalism award; implementing works under the program to support high-quality journalistic works in Thanh Hoa province. That is not only the recognition of the efforts of the Party, the State, of the sectors, of all levels, of Thanh Hoa province towards the team of journalists, but through the awards, it contributes to multiplying the pride, love for the profession, and responsibility of each journalist.

As a local Party newspaper, over the past 62 years, Thanh Hoa Newspaper has promoted its glorious mission, constantly innovated, created, and performed well the role of propaganda, encouragement, and motivation for the Party Committee, government, army, and people of Thanh Hoa to build and fight to protect the Fatherland, enter the cause of industrialization, modernization, international integration, and develop rapidly, strongly, and sustainably.

Over the years, Thanh Hoa Newspaper publications have been increasingly innovated, improved in quality and diversified in types. The staff, reporters, editors and technicians have been gradually upgraded to meet the requirements of journalism in the new era, the era of technology 4.0; the province has invested in synchronous and modern facilities and equipment, contributing to making Thanh Hoa Newspaper a local Party newspaper agency with a scale and publications among the leading in the country. Up to now, Thanh Hoa Newspaper has 5 publications including: Thanh Hoa Daily Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Weekend Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Monthly Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Electronic Newspaper and the Electronic Culture and Life page. In addition, Thanh Hoa Newspaper also manages 4 promotional channels on social networking platforms Facebook, Zalo, Youtube, Tiktok. In addition to maintaining the stability of printed publications, Thanh Hoa Newspaper has focused heavily on digital transformation on the newspaper's electronic publications. In addition to news and articles of a topical nature, Thanh Hoa Newspaper's digital content is increasingly appearing. Notable among them are the Podcats news at 6am every day; the video news at 6pm every day, the Weekly Perspective video, the Ocop Review column, the Wow! Thanh Hoa column, financial news, daily world news, weather news...

At the meeting of generations of journalists on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the first issue of Thanh Hoa Newspaper (March 20, 1962 - March 20, 2024), generations of journalists together reviewed the 62-year tradition of building and growing Thanh Hoa Newspaper. At the warm and friendly meeting, Comrade Nguyen Viet Ba, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Hoa Newspaper, shared innovations in content and form in newspaper publications, and at the same time hoped that generations of journalists of Thanh Hoa Newspaper would continue to stick together, accompany, and have valuable contributions to increase the diversity and attractiveness of the newspaper, contributing to creating vitality and spreading power of publications, building Thanh Hoa Newspaper to become stronger and stronger as set out in the Project for comprehensive development of Thanh Hoa Newspaper to 2025, with a vision to 2030.
