In general, in the first 7 months of 2024, fertilizer imports from most markets increased compared to the same period in 2023.
Today's record, August 16, shows that fertilizer prices are stable in the national market. In the Northern region, the fertilizer market has not recorded any new adjustments. Specifically, NPK 16 - 16 - 8 +TE fertilizer is still listed at a selling price of about 870,000 - 890,000 VND/bag. In addition, Lam Thao superphosphate fertilizer has the lowest selling price, falling to about 260,000 - 290,000 VND/bag.
In the Southwest region, the fertilizer market today (August 16) recorded stability for urea fertilizer. Phu My and Ninh Binh urea fertilizers have selling prices of 560,000 - 600,000 VND/bag and 550,000 - 590,000 VND/bag, respectively.

The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) currently forecasts that global fertilizer consumption will increase by 4% this year compared to 2023, reaching 192.5 million tons. Factors such as geopolitical instability and extreme weather conditions have caused prices of a series of key agricultural products, including rice, wheat, and corn, to remain high compared to the average of the past 10 years.
Currently, Vietnam is still proactive in fertilizer supply. The total designed capacity of fertilizer production in the country is about 20.7 million tons, of which inorganic fertilizer is 16.1 million tons, organic fertilizer is 4.6 million tons and imported about 3-4 million tons. Meanwhile, the annual fertilizer consumption demand is 10.4 million tons/year, of which inorganic fertilizer consumption is 7.6 million tons/year.
