Vietnam affirms interest in developing cooperation in AI application

Vietnam's participation in the AI ​​conference demonstrates Vietnam's strong commitment to applying AI to socio-economic development, while opening up many opportunities for cooperation with international partners.

From February 10-12, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Bui Hoang Phuong, led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Paris.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong attended and spoke at the 3rd Southeast Asia Business Forum, met and worked with Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, Minister in charge of Foreign Trade and French Overseas.

The AI ​​Action Summit in Paris, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took place on February 10-11 with the participation of leaders from nearly 60 countries and territories, international organizations, CEOs of major technology corporations such as Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and leading experts in the field of artificial intelligence.

This event marks a shift from discussions about AI safety to concrete actions, focusing on five key topics: AI for the public good, jobs, investment, ethics, and regulation.

At the conference, 60 countries signed the AI ​​Paris Declaration, calling for promoting global AI governance, ensuring that this technology develops in a transparent, fair and sustainable manner.

The participation of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Bui Hoang Phuong, representing Vietnam at the conference, demonstrates Vietnam's strong commitment to applying AI to socio-economic development, while opening up many opportunities for cooperation with international partners.

In addition, the conference also opens up opportunities for cooperation, learning, and application of AI in domestic socio-economic development, and is also an opportunity for Vietnam to access the latest development trends of AI, promote policies and strategies to effectively apply AI in important areas such as healthcare, education, and digital economy.

This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its active role in the international AI community, towards a sustainable and humane AI future.

On the sidelines of the AI ​​Action Summit, on February 12, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong and the delegation attended the Southeast Asia Business Forum organized by the French Ministry of Foreign Trade.

At the forum, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong delivered an important speech, emphasizing Vietnam's special advantages such as political stability, the strong determination of Vietnamese leaders in promoting the development of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, favorable geographical location as a gateway to ASEAN, and the long history of good traditional relations between Vietnam and France, contributing not only to promoting cooperation with France but also to promoting relations between ASEAN countries and France.

The Deputy Minister hopes that in the near future, many large French corporations and enterprises will come to invest in Vietnam in particular and ASEAN in general.

At the Southeast Asia Business Forum, Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, Minister in charge of Foreign Trade and French Overseas, received Deputy Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam Bui Hoang Phuong.

Minister Laurent Saint-Martin appreciated Vietnam's presence in major events organized by France, reaffirmed its commitment to accompany Vietnam in the process of high-tech development, and emphasized that President Emmanuel Macron's planned visit to Vietnam in 2025 will be a good time for the two sides to concretize these commitments.

According to Minister Saint-Martin, the visit is expected to open a new chapter in the bilateral partnership, further promoting cooperation projects in many fields, especially in the fields of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovation and sustainable technology.

Appreciating the importance of AI for the world's development in the coming time, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed that AI is not just a technology, it also has the power to spread and influence other fields such as culture, economy and society.

The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam is building a legal framework related to AI and data, many state-owned and private corporations are also interested in investing in this field, so France and Vietnam will have many specific cooperation opportunities.

The two sides agreed that this is the right time to focus on further strengthening cooperation in the fields of AI and semiconductors.

The bilateral meeting took place in an open and positive atmosphere, laying the foundation for strategic cooperation initiatives between the two countries in the coming time.

During his visit and work in France, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong visited Vietnam's booth at the AI ​​Summit and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in France on promoting cooperation with France in the fields of science, technology and information./.
