Speakers at the workshop shared solutions to develop the IoT market in Vietnam.

The event featured IoT technical and business speakers from Deloitte, GSMA, Polytechnic University, Rang Dong, China Mobile and more than 200 domestic and foreign enterprises (USA, Netherlands, France, Spain, China...).

According to Mr. Nguyen Thien Nghia, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Information and Communications Industry (Ministry of Information and Communications), the size of Vietnam's IoT market reached more than 2 billion USD in 2019, and is expected to reach 7 billion USD by 2025.

IoT applications that are being widely deployed in Vietnam include: smart cities, smart homes, energy management, environmental monitoring, traffic management, water quality management and many other applications.

However, IoT deployment still faces many challenges such as human resources, weak technical infrastructure, high investment costs and information security.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh said that there are currently nearly 15 billion IoT connections in the world, meaning that each person is connected to nearly 2 smart devices via the internet. However, in Vietnam, this number is still very low, only about 1/20 of the world average.

In the field of IoT, Vietnam is also 20 steps behind the world. To achieve the same connection density per population as the world, Vietnam must make more efforts. However, the Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom believes that the IoT field can also develop strongly in the future, when businesses, telecommunications and information technology units work together to solve technical infrastructure problems and cooperate to develop this market.

"This field will be a source of inspiration for business ideas for startups, as well as an opportunity for growth, opening up new sources of revenue in the future for all businesses. Viettel is committed to supporting businesses in deploying and operating IoT projects, from solution design to technical support and after-sales service," Mr. Nguyen Trong Tinh shared.

Viettel and partners organize exhibition of many IoT application products and technologies

In the development trend of the domestic and international IoT market, the speakers also proposed the establishment of the Vietnam IoT Association to gather businesses and organizations with the same industry and development goals. The Association will operate regularly to create an environment for IoT businesses to learn and develop together.

Within the framework of the conference, Viettel and its partners also organized the exhibition of many new IoT application products and technologies such as: VHealth health monitoring device, smart home solution with HomeCamera AI - connected to Viettel Home application, wireless IoT sensor devices, smart electricity and water metering system, CMP connection management platform...
