Mr. Le Anh Son, Director of Binh Minh Production - Trade - Service Cooperative, Ea Po Commune, Cu Jut District, shared: “As a unit that both produces and trades pepper, I regularly monitor the market for this item. Previously, the price of Dak Nong pepper that traders bought was often the lowest in other provinces. But in recent years, traders have bought pepper from Dak Nong at a higher price than other provinces.”

Mr. Son assessed that the reason why pepper prices in Dak Nong are high is mainly because people pay attention to applying science and techniques to properly care for pepper. Farmers pay attention to the stages of harvesting, drying, and preserving agricultural products... thereby improving product quality and selling at higher prices.

In addition, in the past, most farmers consigned all their pepper products to agents and companies after harvesting, so they were forced to lower prices. In recent years, farmers have dried and stored their pepper products at home after harvesting, avoiding the situation of being forced to lower prices, thereby increasing the selling price when the time is right.

Binh Minh Cooperative is cooperating with more than 1,000 farmers to produce over 1,420 hectares of pepper according to the value chain, with an output of over 3,030 tons/year. Of which, 250 households have 484 hectares, an output of 680 tons/year, and are Rainforest Alliance certified.

Mr. Son shared: “The cooperative organizes joint production and joint consumption. We guide farmers on sustainable pepper production techniques to improve product quality and avoid price pressure. At the same time, we provide information on the pepper product market, train and coach farmers on sales skills so that farmers can sell at good prices.”

The high price of Dak Nong pepper has increased farmers’ income. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai, Nghia Trung Ward, Gia Nghia City shared: “We have been trained in techniques and fully informed about the pepper market by farmers’ associations and professional agencies, so we can grasp and produce well.”

Mr. Ngo Xuan Dong, Deputy Director of Dak Nong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, shared: "Vietnam's pepper industry is shifting from increasing acreage to improving quality, promoting deep processing, diversifying products, diversifying markets to penetrate deeply into the global pepper supply chain. In Dak Nong, we are implementing green agricultural production solutions for pepper to improve economic efficiency for farmers and increase product value, and build brands."

Pepper is one of the main crops of Dak Nong. Currently, the pepper area of the whole province is about 33,985 hectares, with an output of 70,685 tons. Currently, Dak Nong ranks first in the Central Highlands and the whole country in terms of pepper growing area, but its output ranks second in the country, after Dak Lak.

Dak Nong currently has 3,154 hectares of pepper recognized by international and domestic certification organizations as meeting standards.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in 2025, global pepper output is forecast to continue to decrease while stable consumption demand is the driving force for Vietnam's pepper exports this year, including Dak Nong farmers.
