Coffee prices are stable

Domestic coffee prices remain high

In the domestic market, at 5:00 a.m. this morning (March 20, 2025), coffee prices in the Central Highlands remained stable, unchanged from yesterday and maintained at a high level, currently the average purchase price is 134,000 VND/kg.

Details in some localities: coffee price in Dak Lak is at 134,000 VND/kg, Lam Dong recorded 132,700 VND/kg, Gia Lai reached 134,000 VND/kg, and in Dak Nong, the current price is 134,000 VND/kg.

According to some experts, domestic coffee prices may face slight downward pressure in the coming time. The reason is that new supply from the harvest is gradually being added to the market, while global demand shows signs of decreasing due to the current high price.

However, the decrease may not be too deep because the amount of goods from farmers to the market is not too abundant. In the past year, coffee prices have increased sharply, helping growers have a stable source of income, so the financial pressure is not great, creating conditions for them to proactively keep goods instead of selling them en masse.

Pepper prices slightly decreased

Specifically, the Indonesian market continued to decline, while Vietnam's pepper export prices increased again after many days of stability, with an increase of 100 USD/ton.

In the Vietnamese market, pepper export prices continue to remain stable and tend to increase again. Currently, the export price of 500 g/l black pepper is at 7,100 USD/ton, 550 g/l is at 7,300 USD/ton, while white pepper is priced at 10,100 USD/ton.

Vietnam pepper industry faces new opportunities

The 2025 pepper crop in Vietnam, which begins after the Lunar New Year holiday and lasts until around March and April, is affected by drought. Many pepper gardens have seen their yields decrease by 20-40% compared to last year, causing a significant reduction in supply. However, demand from key markets such as the US, EU and China remains stable, contributing to a sharp increase in pepper prices.

Notably, in March 2025, the Vietnam Pepper and Spices International Conference - VIPO 2025 attracted great attention from the international business community. This event witnessed many important cooperation agreements between Vietnam and partners from China and the US, creating great opportunities for the domestic spice industry.

In addition, key markets such as the US, Europe and the Middle East are boosting pepper imports to meet consumer and food processing needs. This is a favorable factor helping domestic enterprises increase purchases to meet export orders.

Currently, Vietnamese pepper is gradually shifting to the high-end product segment, focusing on organic pepper and deeply processed pepper to increase export value.

In the first two months of 2025, the average export price of pepper reached 6,746 USD/ton, up more than 68% over the same period last year, marking the highest level in nearly a decade. Vietnam continues to maintain its position as the world's leading pepper exporter.
