On the morning of April 8, the People's Council of Quang Nam province, term X, 2021-2026, held an extraordinary meeting to carry out personnel procedures according to its authority.
Mr. Le Tri Thanh ceased to hold the position of Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee.
Accordingly, the People's Council of Quang Nam province dismissed Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, former Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, from the position of Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Nam province for the 2021-2026 term; dismissed Mr. Le Tri Thanh from the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and dismissed Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang from the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
At the meeting, 50/50 delegates present voted unanimously to dismiss Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, Mr. Le Tri Thanh and Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang.
The delegates also voted unanimously to dismiss Mr. Phan Viet Cuong from his position as a delegate of the 10th Quang Nam Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026.
Previously, on December 29, 2023, the Politburo decided to grant retirement to Mr. Phan Viet Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Nam province.
Mr. Cuong was allowed to retire from January 1, 2024, with his official retirement date from July 1, 2024. Previously, Mr. Phan Viet Cuong submitted a retirement application due to health reasons.
In the case of Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, after Mr. Tran Van Tan, former Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, was sentenced to prison for his involvement in the "rescue flight" case, Mr. Le Tri Thanh saw the responsibility of the leader in managing subordinate officials.
When the inspection team of the Central Inspection Commission completed the inspection content, including violations by Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province and a number of other officials, Mr. Le Tri Thanh submitted a resignation letter from November 2023.
The Standing Committee of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee will assign appropriate work to Mr. Le Tri Thanh.
It is known that Mr. Le Tri Thanh was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province for the 2016-2021 term from the end of November 2019.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, was disciplined with a warning due to violations and shortcomings in his work, and the Central Inspection Commission has taken disciplinary action against the Party.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang has submitted a resignation letter from the position of Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province for the 2021-2026 term.
After the dismissal, the Standing Committee of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee will assign appropriate work to Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang.
