Build specific, special, and breakthrough policy mechanisms to promote rapid development of the defense industry to meet the tasks assigned by the Party and State.
On the afternoon of March 15, at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park (Hanoi), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working session with the Ministry of National Defense and relevant ministries and branches on the results of research and production of high-tech defense industry in 2024, orienting key tasks in 2025, contributing to concretizing Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation.
Also attending were General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense; Party Central Committee members: Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh, Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Thi Hong, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; leaders of ministries, branches and central agencies.
Reports and opinions at the meeting assessed that in recent times, the agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense, led by the General Department of Defense Industry and the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), have achieved many breakthrough results in implementing key tasks in the fields of science, technology, innovation, and national defense assigned by the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense. These results directly aim to enhance the country's defense potential.
Specifically, our army has mastered system design, system integration and core technologies of high-tech defense products, successfully produced and delivered a number of strategic products equipped in the army and effectively served the country's socio-economic development.
Recognizing and praising the achievements, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the breakthrough developments of the defense industry in recent times. Defense industry products researched and developed by our army, especially strategic products, have been and will contribute to creating the foundation for building a proactive, self-reliant, self-reliant, dual-purpose, and modern Vietnamese defense industry; promoting internal strength is the decisive factor; closely connecting and becoming the spearhead of the national industry.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of National Defense to promote the achieved results, continue to perform better the assigned tasks; especially take the lead in effectively implementing Resolution 57 of the Politburo, accelerate the development of the semiconductor chip industry; promote the combined strength to develop the modern defense industry, become the spearhead of the national industry, effectively serve the goals and tasks of protecting and building the country in the new era, develop prosperously, for social progress and happiness of the people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, based on the assessment of the results and experiences of 2024, ministries and branches will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense to advise the Party and State on policies and strategies for developing the defense industry to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.
In particular, focusing on closely combining basic scientific research with application, training human resources, expanding and improving infrastructure; researching, consulting, building specific, special, and breakthrough policy mechanisms to promote the speed and quality of tasks, meeting the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
