On June 8, the final VAR referee training course will be organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Referee Board and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF). This is a decisive period in accelerating the speed of putting VAR into use in V-League 2023.
Under the supervision of FIFA, the class will enter the final stage of practical tests. If it completes its task well, the plan to use VAR in the next stage of V-League 2023 can be promoted. Conversely, if the referees do not meet the requirements, VAR will be applied from the 2023/2024 season.
VAR equipment is brought to Vietnam.
Also this week, VPF received the final shipment of equipment to be installed on VAR vehicles from FIFA's partner. The equipment just delivered to Vietnam includes communication equipment, control workstations, peripherals, servers,... along with basic software and offside detection software.
After the equipment is installed on the mobile VAR vehicles, VPF will organize test matches using VAR technology to help referees get familiar with the technology as quickly as possible. This process will continue to be closely monitored by FIFA and must wait for this unit to grant a license before VAR can officially operate in the V-League.
The refereeing issue continues to cause frustration for teams participating in the V-League. In round 9, assistant referee Nguyen Thanh Son made a serious mistake when he signaled offside when Soladio of SLNA received the ball. In fact, this striker was still standing quite far above the last defender of the Hanoi Police Club before receiving the pass from Xuan Tien.
This mistake seriously affected the result of the match between Hanoi Police Club and SLNA Club. The Nghe An team suffered a 1-2 loss and faced many difficulties in the V-League relegation race. Therefore, VPF is making efforts to apply VAR technology in V-League as soon as possible.
