7th V.League coach fined for reacting to referee

During the extra time of the first half of the match between The Cong Viettel and Cong An Ha Noi Club in the 11th round of V.League, referee Hoang Thanh Binh gave a yellow card to coach Nguyen Duc Thang. The head coach of The Cong Viettel reacted strongly to the referee when he thought his player had been fouled.

Before that, Wesley Nata (The Cong Viettel) had a strong dribbling situation, Tran Dinh Trong (Hanoi Police Club) appeared to intervene and made a hand blocking move. Mr. Hoang Thanh Binh said that this was not a foul situation.

If he got past Dinh Trong, Nata could have entered the penalty area and faced goalkeeper Nguyen Filip. This was the reason why Mr. Thang reacted strongly.

Reviewing the slow-motion replay, Dinh Trong had a trick on Nata. However, VAR could not intervene as this move was difficult to be considered a red card foul and could not lead to a penalty. However, if he was given another yellow card, Dinh Trong would be sent off the field due to the previous card.

Last week, the matches in round 13 witnessed a series of heavy penalties for coaches, all for their reactions to the referee. Mr. Le Duc Tuan - Head coach of Da Nang Club received a direct red card for protesting the decision of referee Nguyen Viet Duan. Mr. Bui Doan Quang Huy - Head coach of Binh Dinh team was given a yellow card for the same mistake.

Meanwhile, coach Van Sy Son was banned from directing two matches due to his reaction of throwing a water bottle and bowing to referee Nguyen Manh Hai in the match between Quang Nam and Hanoi Police Club.

The most controversial match was between Ho Chi Minh City and Thanh Hoa. Technical Director Hoang Thanh Tung and Coach Popov of Thanh Hoa team both received red cards. In the second half, assistant Mai Xuan Hop also received a yellow card for reacting to referee Le Vu Linh.
