Vietnam futsal team: Impressed with young players

With a series of 4 unbeaten friendly matches against Saudi Arabia (ranked 50th) and Kazakhstan (ranked 7th), coach Diego Giustozzi and his team not only showed impressive performance but also marked a promising generational transition period.

More than 50% of the team in this gathering are young faces born after 2001, making the average age of the entire team quite young - only 21.7 years old. Five notable new recruits include: Tran Van Luong (born 2003), An Lam Toi (2002), Trinh Cong Dai (2007), Tran Quang Nguyen (2006) and Nguyen Van Tuan (1999). In addition, previously discovered young factors such as Cong Vien, Gia Hung (2002), Ngoc Anh (2004), Da Hai, Thanh Bao (2005) also continue to show progress.

The 4-1 victory and dramatic 2-2 draw against Kazakhstan - a team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup - showed the bravery and good adaptability of the young players of the Vietnamese futsal team. According to experts, in the last 4 matches, the Vietnamese futsal team flexibly switched between defense and counter-attack, deployed power-play well, and coordinated well between the lines.

Not only was this a test for the young players, it also brought a positive signal about their fighting spirit. In this final match, the team was led 0-2 by the world's 7th ranked team but they fought back to draw 2-2, demonstrating the commendable bravery of the players.

With 3 wins and 1 draw in April, Vietnam futsal (currently ranked 31st) is expected to gain at least 28 points, with a great chance of reaching the world's top 26, surpassing Colombia (currently ranked 26th). More importantly, the team is gradually improving its skills, ready to conquer big challenges such as the matches against Iran, Japan or host Thailand in upcoming tournaments.

Under the guidance of coach Giustozzi, who once led Argentina to the World Cup, Vietnam futsal is steadily on its way to a new milestone in the transition period of its young force. There is a harmonious combination of experience and youth, so fans are expecting the Vietnam futsal team to continue to create new miracles in upcoming tournaments.
