All workers and staff of the Coal industry have just successfully completed and exceeded the 90-day peak emulation campaign in the fourth quarter of 2024, thereby contributing to the growth of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), creating momentum for the new coal season 2025 to achieve new victories, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province.
In 2024, TKV will face many difficulties and challenges from the volatile world economy, natural disasters and floods, especially in the first days of September, Quang Ninh and the Coal industry will have to face Typhoon Yagi - a storm with unprecedented destructive power that has directly and severely affected the production and business activities of TKV. Many construction sites, factories, mines, warehouses were damaged, hundreds of hectares of trees on mine waste dumps were broken, widespread power outages forced many units to temporarily suspend operations. However, with the spirit of "Discipline and Unity", self-reliance, the work to overcome storms and floods was implemented quickly and effectively by the coal industry, and units immediately started production when the storm passed. TKV has overcome all difficulties to excellently complete production and business tasks, making an important contribution to the economic growth of the country in general and Quang Ninh in particular.
Continuing to affirm its role as a pillar in the economy, by the end of 2024, TKV's clean coal production reached 38.1 million tons, equal to 101% of the annual plan; coal consumption reached 46.7 million tons, equal to 100% of the plan. State budget contribution reached 25.5 trillion VND, of which budget contribution in Quang Ninh was estimated at 17.6 trillion VND, equal to 111% of the annual plan. Average income of workers in the coal production sector reached 18.7 million VND/person/month.
Along with the political task of ensuring national energy security, TKV always fulfills its corporate social responsibility, supports the construction of welfare works, social security work in the locality, and takes good care of the lives of workers. Especially in the prevention and overcoming of the consequences of storm No. 3, the Coal industry units have mobilized forces to help and support the localities where the units are located to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, and soon bring the lives of local people back to normal.
Successfully completing the 2024 task, in the new coal season of 2025, TKV plans to consume 50 million tons of coal; export coal to reach 2 million tons; produce clean coal to reach 38 million tons; generate electricity to reach at least 10.07 billion kWh...; pay the state budget about 25.5 trillion VND.
Right from the first days and months of the new year 2025, at construction sites, workshops, mines, furnaces, ports... of the Coal industry, everywhere is bustling with an exciting competitive atmosphere, with high determination to complete the production and business tasks of each shift, each day, each month set by units and companies.
Affirming that the Coal industry and Quang Ninh are always closely linked, the development of TKV is also the development of Quang Ninh province, comrade Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that in 2025, Quang Ninh determined the theme of the year "Breakthrough in economic development, creating momentum for the new term", in which TKV continues to be one of the pillars, making important contributions to the development of Quang Ninh province. Therefore, units of the Coal industry continue to make efforts and strive to exceed the production and business plan for 2025; review and complete regulations and labor safety procedures in each production stage, especially underground mining. At the same time, continue to promote the application of science and technology in production, considering this the key to improving productivity, increasing the labor safety coefficient; coordinate with units in Quang Ninh province to promote the use of mine waste rock and soil as filling materials for projects. All the people and officials of Quang Ninh province commit to share and continue to accompany the Coal industry for stability, sustainability and development with the spirit of "Discipline and Unity", with the aspiration to build a model Quang Ninh, rich, beautiful, civilized and modern.
Believing that, as one of the important industries of the province, the efforts, endeavors and determination of the units, workers and officers of the Coal industry in production and business will contribute significantly to Quang Ninh in completing the socio-economic development target, achieving a growth rate of over 12% in 2025 as set by the province.
