Literature is perfect, English is easy, math is not difficult

At 10:00 a.m. on June 11, at the exam site of Cau Giay High School (Quan Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi), many candidates left the exam room with bright faces after successfully completing the 10th grade entrance exam to public high schools in Hanoi.

More than 115,000 Hanoi students completed the math test on the morning of June 11.

Nguyen Hoang Hai, a student at Nghia Tan Secondary School (Cau Giay District) confidently said: "I just couldn't do the last question, I'm confident I'll get 9.5 points in math."

Yesterday, Bui Thuy Tien, a student at Archimedes Secondary School (Cau Giay District) took two fairly easy exams in literature and English. Tien also commented that this year's math exam was somewhat easier than previous years.

"I felt very happy and relieved when the exam was completed as expected. The exam was very suitable for me, even beyond my expectations. Yesterday we were very worried because we thought the math would be difficult when we previously felt the literature and foreign language exams were easy. I am confident that I will get a high score on this exam and I will achieve my first wish of entering Cau Giay High School," Tien said.

Many candidates left the exam room in a relaxed and happy mood because the 10th grade math exam was not too difficult.

Recalling his feelings when holding the exam in his hands, Nguyen Hai Dang, a student at Dich Vong Hau Secondary School (Cau Giay District) said he was very surprised when the math test was not as difficult as expected.

"Math is the subject I am most confident in. The test is easy but a bit long. Question 3 is a geometry question, part 2 has a part about proving two lines are parallel to each other and the last question is about proving an inequality. This is an advanced question to classify students. I am confident that I can do the whole test, but there may be mistakes in the process, so I think I will get about 9.5 points or more," Dang said.

Many parents at the exam site of Cau Giay High School were quite worried, thinking that if literature is "right on target" and English is easy, math will be difficult.

Vu Thuy Linh, a student at Mai Dich Secondary School (Cau Giay District), said that this year's math test was within her ability, and she was able to complete most of the questions. However, the two classification questions, question 3 on geometry and question 5 on proving inequalities, were quite difficult for her. "Many students in my class could not do these two questions, which cost about 1 point," Linh said, adding that with this test, Linh was confident that she could get a score of 9.

Stressed and anxiously waiting for his daughter on the last day of the 10th grade entrance exam, Mr. Luong Van Khanh (in Cau Giay District) was happy when his daughter finished all the exams.

"I know how my child studies. I don't put pressure on him. There are many opportunities and options, not necessarily public high schools. If he wants to take the exam to Cau Giay High School, his parents will always support and fulfill his wishes. Yesterday, he did quite well in the two subjects, expected to get 8.5 - 9 points, but today, math is not his strong point, but seeing him confidently get about 8 points, I am also excited," Mr. Khanh shared.

This year, Hanoi has nearly 72,000 quotas for public grade 10. Of which, the quota for the non-specialized system is 69,805. The competition ratio for the non-specialized system is 1/1.5. It is expected that by July 4 at the latest, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores.
