Stopping enrollment in 22 specialized 10th grade classes at 4 high schools that usually have specialized classes in 2025 is expected to increase competition for admission to specialized 10th grade classes at 2 specialized high schools: Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School and Le Hong Phong Specialized High School.
In addition, according to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, from 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will adjust the calculation of the rate of 9th grade students entering 10th grade public high schools.
Accordingly, the enrollment quota for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year of public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will depend on the reception capacity of each high school according to the conditions of facilities, rooms, teaching staff and development strategy of each school when implementing the 2018 General Education Program, not controlled by the streaming rate as in previous years.
Admission quotas for grade 10 are also calculated to suit each locality.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have 88,535 ninth grade students, a decrease of 28,647 students compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
