In recent years, agricultural production in Kim Bang town has changed significantly. Most localities in the town have built production areas in the direction of goods, concentrated, linked to product consumption with enterprises; in which, agricultural service cooperatives (ASCs) play an important role.

Through research, it is known that the agricultural service cooperatives of the town (except Ba Sao Agricultural Service Cooperative which does not have rice fields) all perform well in essential service stages, including: irrigation, agricultural extension, plant protection and veterinary. More than 70% of cooperatives have implemented agreed services, such as: Supply of seeds, fertilizers, product consumption... Typically, Dong Hoa Agricultural Service Cooperative operates with a total of 7 service stages for production; including 4 essential service stages (irrigation, agricultural extension, plant protection and veterinary); 2 agreed service stages (supply of materials, product consumption). These services are all organized by the cooperative with the highest quality to serve production. With irrigation services, every year, Dong Hoa Agricultural Service Cooperative dredging canals; at the same time, repairing and maintaining electric pumping stations in the fields to meet operating capacity...

Machine implantation service is effectively performed by Tuong Linh Agricultural Service Cooperative.

Like Dong Hoa, Tuong Linh Agricultural Service Cooperative, in addition to essential services, has performed well the agreed services, including: Supply of materials (fertilizers, rice seeds), consumption of products (glutinous corn, paddy), tray seeding and machine planting services. Particularly for tray seeding and machine planting services, the Board of Directors of Tuong Linh Agricultural Service Cooperative has organized 3 service teams with a total of 9 Kubota engine transplanters to provide services for more than 80% of the cultivated area... According to Mr. Nguyen Van Sam, Director of Tuong Linh Agricultural Service Cooperative, the cooperative's services play an important role in production. Currently, the cooperative has up to 80% of the rice area transplanted by machines because the tray seeding and machine planting services of the service teams are guaranteed in terms of both time and quality.

Along with service activities, agricultural service cooperatives in Kim Bang town play an important role in organizing and managing production. The Board of Directors of agricultural service cooperatives implements production area planning in the direction of focusing on rice and commercial crops. Each year, the area of commercial crop production in the town (including spring, summer-autumn and winter crops) reaches nearly 1,000 hectares. The area of high-value cucumber cultivation alone is about 600 - 700 hectares/year. In the town, most communes and wards have built and maintained production on model fields. Currently, the whole town has 15 model fields of 12 communes and wards, with a total area of nearly 500 hectares; some localities have reduced model fields due to land acquisition. On the model fields, agricultural service cooperatives organize planting of the same varieties, the same tea, the same care process, linking 3 crops a year with 2 rice crops and a winter commodity crop. Many model fields have applied mechanization in both sowing and spraying pesticides using remote-controlled aircraft. Some fields have been linked to production and product consumption with enterprises according to the value chain. Typically, in Nguyen Uy commune, 2 model fields with an area of 30 hectares/field have been built. On these fields, Nguyen Uy Agricultural Service Cooperative has linked with Nam Duong Company Limited (Dong Van Industrial Park, Duy Tien town) to produce purebred rice varieties. The joint enterprise provides seeds, technical guidance and purchases all products from people at a price about 10% higher than commercial rice cultivation... According to local people, the organization and operation of the Agricultural Service Cooperative plays a very important role in production. In the fields, the production models have all been effective. Thanks to that, production has brought profits, becoming the main source of income for people in many localities.

Currently, the whole town has 15 model fields of 12 communes and wards, with a total area of nearly 500 hectares; some localities have reduced model fields due to land acquisition. On the model fields, the agricultural service cooperatives organize planting of the same varieties, the same tea, the same care process, linking 3 crops a year with 2 rice crops and a winter commodity crop. Many model fields apply mechanization in both sowing and spraying of plant protection chemicals using remote-controlled aircraft.

Thanks to the effective operation of agricultural service cooperatives, production in the fields of Kim Bang town has fundamentally changed, exploiting the potential and strengths of the land. In the two rice crops, there were over 470 hectares of concentrated production associated with product consumption, increasing value and profit by 7-10% compared to mass production. Particularly, the area of cucumber cultivation converted on rice land in the spring, summer-autumn and winter crops has an average value of nearly 10 million VND/sao/crop, 3-4 times higher than rice cultivation. Many households have developed cucumber cultivation on an area of up to more than 1 mau/crop, earning a profit of more than 50 million VND/crop. Ms. Nguyen Hong Hanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Kim Bang town, assessed: The main factor promoting agricultural production in the fields of the town is the good organization of the activities of agricultural service cooperatives. From there, changing the thinking and working methods of the people towards commodity and concentration. Currently, the average production value on the cultivated area of Kim Bang town is estimated at more than 150 million VND/ha/year, many areas reach over 200 million VND/ha/year.

Continuing to identify the important role of agricultural service cooperatives in developing agricultural production, in the leadership and direction of the Town Party Committee and the People's Committee of Kim Bang Town, localities are required to organize well and improve the operational efficiency of agricultural service cooperatives; focus on developing agreed service stages in parallel with doing well essential services to contribute to promoting agricultural production in the area towards increasing value and income for people.
