Drinking 0 degree beer, when blowing alcohol concentration will increase?

VTC NewsVTC News23/02/2024

There are many types of beer with different alcohol concentrations, many people call it alcoholic beer and 0-alcohol beer (non-alcoholic beer). The alcohol concentration in beer and wine is also different. Most beers contain 5-8% alcohol concentration, some are higher from 8-15%.

Zero alcohol beer, also known as non-alcoholic beer, is a product that has had all its alcohol extracted or has been brewed to contain less alcohol than the permitted level.

In fact, many beers advertised as having zero alcohol content actually contain around 0.5%. Different countries have different regulations on alcohol content in beer. One study found that 30% of zero alcohol beers tested had more alcohol than their labels indicated, and 6 of the beers tested contained as much as 1.8% alcohol by volume.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), drinks with an alcohol content of less than 0.5% can be considered non-alcoholic. The same is true in Germany.

Meanwhile, in Italy, zero-alcohol beer actually contains 1.2% alcohol. In the UK, beer labeled "zero alcohol" has an alcohol content of less than 0.05%.

If you drink beers that are labeled as 0 alcohol, your breath alcohol concentration is still low. If you are stopped in traffic and asked to have your breathalyzer blown, you may still test positive and be in violation.

When using 0-degree beer, you still need time to eliminate all alcohol concentration in your blood and breath before participating in traffic. It is best not to drink beer, even if it is 0-degree beer.

Based on the common reality of alcohol consumption in most countries around the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) has introduced the concept of alcohol unit.

One unit of alcohol is equivalent to 10g of pure ethanol, equal to 200ml of beer; 75ml of wine (1 glass); 25ml of spirits (1 cup). Depending on the amount of alcohol consumed, it will be converted to approximately how many units of alcohol.

For a healthy adult, the liver can eliminate 1 unit of alcohol every hour. This is an average number. Depending on the individual, such as people with weak livers or people who are heavier than average, this time period can increase or decrease.

In addition, pathological factors, age, weight, or when the stomach contains a lot of food, the rate of alcohol absorption in the stomach will be slow and the rate of alcohol excretion will also be slow.

Regarding the body's alcohol excretion mechanism, about 10 - 15% will be excreted through the respiratory tract, skin, and sweat. About 85 - 90% will be processed through the liver.
