In the context of strong technological development, artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly having a great impact on many fields, including education. Instead of assigning exercises that can be easily solved by AI, FPT Schools focuses on promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills of students right in the classroom.
Limit reliance on AI
Faced with concerns that AI could make students lazy to think, dependent and lose creativity, FPT Schools aims for a homework-free learning environment.

Specifically, the school focuses on increasing social interaction in class through projects, discussions, and debates, avoiding students from abusing AI without control. Students will work with teachers to solve problems and difficult exercises together. For studying at home, students' attitudes and self-study skills are always encouraged by the school. Students proactively review what they have learned and prepare the content of new exercises.
With this method, AI is a companion, supplementing knowledge, instead of becoming a tool to solve and cope with exercises, causing students' thinking to be increasingly eroded.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Khanh Ly, Vice President of the School Board and CEO of FPT Schools in Hanoi and Hai Phong, students in the school are often asked to use AI to analyze historical events, but must compare them with many different data sources, from which they can make personal arguments. Or instead of doing simple exercises, students use AI to check data, but still have to explain how to do it using logical thinking.
“This method helps students limit their dependence on AI, practice critical thinking, independent thinking and self-study skills - important skills in the digital age,” said Ms. Khanh Ly.
Meanwhile, teachers at FPT Schools use AI to create lessons, guide students to be creative, and solve problems in their studies and daily life. Most subjects at the school apply AI in teaching, making lessons more intuitive, vivid, and easier to understand. The AI system is capable of analyzing learning outcomes, suggesting appropriate pathways, and helping students absorb knowledge more effectively.
To help students practice their writing skills, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, a Literature teacher at FPT Bac Tu Liem High School (Hanoi), developed a social discussion chatbot on the Coze AI platform. According to Ms. Huong, the chatbot helps students look up information quickly, automatically grades their writing, and suggests ways to improve the content.
In addition, the chatbot provides sample essays, analyzes arguments, and uses illustrations to support creativity. As a result, students receive immediate feedback, improving their critical thinking and writing skills.
Ms. Dang Thi Huong, a Math teacher at FPT Thanh Hoa Primary, Secondary and High School, brings interesting experiences to 2nd grade students thanks to AI tools, through the creation of animated characters, accompanying students in each lesson. In addition, the female teacher converts text into voice, images, vivid visual videos, trains AI assistants to synthesize learning materials and assign practice exercises to students.
“With this method, after just one semester, more than 90% of students said they had a solid grasp of math knowledge, were more focused in class, and were more interested in the subject,” said Ms. Huong. The application of AI not only improves teaching efficiency but also creates conditions for students to learn individually, develop creativity, and be proactive in learning.

Bringing AI into Education the Right Way
As a pioneering educational institution in innovation, FPT Schools identifies technology as one of the three important pillars in the system-wide educational strategy. Therefore, from the 2024-2025 school year, the unit cooperates with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to introduce AI into teaching for students from grade 1, with the Day of AI learning materials, compiled by FPT teachers.
Information from the Vice President of FPT Schools, the unit has implemented the integration of digital competency framework for students throughout the system since two years ago. Here, AI is deeply integrated into the three major pillars of STEM, programming (Coding) and Robotics, helping students form creative thinking, solve problems with technology, and have the ability to access new technology. Thanks to that, FPT Schools students are always interested in the lessons as well as stimulated critical thinking.
“ To date, 100% of FPT Schools students from grades 1 to 12 are accessing updated knowledge about AI. Nurtured in an environment that promotes creativity and respects individual strengths, FPT Schools students are always excited to explore and create technology. Many students have affirmed their outstanding abilities by continuously achieving high results in AI and Robotics competitions,” said the Vice Chairman of the FPT Schools Board.

With a team of young teachers with solid professional skills, FPT Schools is determined to stay ahead of the trend, requiring teachers to apply AI to support teaching activities such as preparing lesson plans and illustrating lectures. In early 2024, FPT Schools will train nearly 1,000 teachers and staff in AI technology, changing from thinking to skills and implementation with specific digital competency scales.
School leaders set an example for teachers, teachers set an example for students, thereby creating a learning environment where AI becomes a useful and practical part of the modern educational ecosystem, anyone can learn AI, anyone can use AI.
Along with activities to improve internal technology capacity, FPT Schools also focuses on building a STEM learning movement through competitions and technology festivals open to students nationwide, while spreading knowledge and understanding of technology to the Vietnamese education community.
Ms. Khanh Linh believes that current and future society will be strongly influenced by science and technology, especially artificial intelligence. Therefore, if students are not equipped with AI knowledge right now, it will be difficult for them to keep up with the pace of development of the times.
“The most important thing to adapt to the AI era is to change your mindset and proactively embrace technology instead of being afraid. This is not only an educational strategy, but also a way to help Vietnam develop high-quality human resources in the digital future,” emphasized the representative of FPT Schools.
