In addition to Vietnam, China, South Korea, Bahrain, Thailand, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan were also chosen as hosts in the 2024 AFC U23 qualifiers.
As the host of the group, U23 Vietnam has a huge advantage in the race for tickets to the finals when playing at home with the support of a large number of fans.
In the 2024 AFC U23 qualifiers, Vietnam U23 is ranked in the number one seed group with Australia, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Jordan and Thailand.
It is expected that on May 25, AFC will conduct the draw for the 2024 AFC U23 qualifiers.
The final round of this tournament will take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024 in Qatar with the participation of 16 teams including 11 group winners and 5 second-place teams with the best results in the qualifying round.
The recent 32nd SEA Games was not a success for U22 Vietnam, only winning a bronze medal, but coach Troussier and his team gained useful experience to prepare for more important tournaments ahead.
Returning from the SEA Games, Mr. Troussier continued to strengthen the squad for U22 Vietnam to participate in the Panda Cup, a friendly tournament taking place in China in June.
This tournament is also the starting point for the Vietnam team's campaign to win tickets to the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.
