USD exchange rate today April 6, 2025 on the world market

The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 102.92 - up 0.41 points compared to April 5, 2025.

In the international market, the DXY index, which measures the value of the USD against a basket of six major currencies in the world, remains at a six-month low, currently around 102.92 points, down more than 9% from the beginning of the year. The USD was sold off as investors withdrew capital from the US stock market.

On the other hand, the USD recovered against major currencies such as the EUR and the Japanese Yen in the last trading session, after US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell acknowledged the impacts of US tariff policies and signaled caution in easing monetary policy in the future.

Mr Powell said tariffs raise the risk of higher inflation and slower growth, underscoring the difficulties ahead for policymakers at the US central bank.

One factor that helped the USD increase strongly in the session last night was the March employment report in the US non-agricultural sector which increased sharply to 228,000 new jobs, a sharp increase compared to the previously forecast 135,000 jobs and 117,000 jobs achieved in February.

The unemployment rate edged up slightly to 4.2% in March from a forecast 4.1% in February, but that remains low. The underemployment rate also fell slightly to 7.9% from 8%.
