Remembering the one year anniversary of the death of author Le Duy Hanh

On the morning of August 4, at the 5B Small Stage Theater, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association and the family of author Le Duy Hanh solemnly held a memorial service to commemorate the first anniversary of author Le Duy Hanh's death.

Attending the event were Dr. Le Hong Liem, former Deputy Head of the Party Central Inspection Committee, former Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City (now the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City); Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Hoang Thi Hanh - wife of author Le Duy Hanh and children, grandchildren; and many artists, friends, colleagues... of the author.

At the ceremony, People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau emotionally recalled many memories of screenwriter Le Duy Hanh: "As an author with strengths in modernity in subject matter, he also has a unique and different writing style and poetics, opening up a multi-space, multi-time trend on stage. When stage conditions do not have the support of modern, scientific means, the multi-space, multi-time in his works is a very unique creative and compositional trend."

During his lifetime, author Le Duy Hanh was the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association for 5 terms. He was always enthusiastic about his profession, and was the leader who steered the theater art ship through many storms, so that theater activities and development in the city were always vibrant, colorful and achieved many outstanding achievements.

Among them is the 5B experimental theater stage, a red address for drama art, creating a mark for a youthful, novel, innovative, and attractive theater stage for audiences of all ages. This place has also trained and created a name for many generations of talented actors, artists, and directors in the theater field.

Le Duy Hanh is a talented, virtuous, and dedicated playwright who has contributed tirelessly to theatrical activities in the North and South with scripts for many types of performances such as reformed opera, cheo, hat boi, folk songs, bai choi, etc.

Among the many outstanding and timeless stage works that have been chosen by many art units to invest in staging and performing over the past decades, we can mention: Tam su Ngoc Han, King of the Le Dynasty, Queen of the Two Kings, Ly Chieu Hoang, Doi do, Hon tho ngoc, Sang mai niem tin, Hoa doc trong vuon, Nguoi cao, Doi kuong mot minh, Troi Nam, No than than, Hon tuong...

At the memorial service, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy was moved: "The ideology that a person leaves behind in life is the culture of living, style, and values. With the ideology and style of Uncle Le Duy Hanh, the culture of living is the true values, very good, very beautiful."

On this occasion, there are two books: Le Duy Hanh - Collection of Cai Luong scripts published by the Stage Publishing House and Le Duy Hanh - Memory - Collection of works published by the Writers' Association Publishing House, introducing to readers 18 famous scripts by playwright Le Duy Hanh.

The book is respectfully made by the families of the crew with the hope of spreading more widely the stage scripts that author Le Duy Hanh wrote and left for the world. It is also a meaningful and valuable gift to give to those who work in the theater and readers who are interested in learning about stage scripts.
