At the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong said that since the Politburo approved the "Overall Plan on Vietnam's participation in UN peacekeeping operations", our country has basically completed the mechanisms, creating a legal basis for sending the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security forces to participate in UN peacekeeping operations outside of Vietnam's territory.

To date, Vietnam has sent 533 officers and professional soldiers to participate in UN peacekeeping operations. The forces have performed well in their assigned roles and responsibilities. The results achieved by Vietnam's UN peacekeeping force have been highly appreciated in many important areas.
President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that professional officers and soldiers participating in UN peacekeeping operations are ambassadors of peace and friendship, and a source of national pride. "The Party and State always believe in and are proud of the achievements of Vietnam's peacekeeping forces in recent times, and believe that the units deployed to the replacement mission areas will continue the tradition and inherit the achievements of the previous peacekeeping forces," President Vo Van Thuong emphasized.
Previously, on March 28, 2022, the Minister of National Defense signed a decision to establish Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 with 70 officers and soldiers, including 63 official and 7 reserve, 10 female soldiers, trained to replace Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4.
On November 20, 2022, the Minister of National Defense signed a decision to establish Engineering Team No. 2 with 203 soldiers, including 184 official and 19 reserve, including 19 female soldiers, ready to replace Engineering Team No. 1.
