Following the success of the 2022 Marine Conservation Biodiversity Competition, in 2023, within the framework of the implementation of the Communication Project to enhance community capacity on marine conservation until 2030, the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Department coordinated with the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper and units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to launch a drawing contest with the theme "I draw the blue ocean - home of marine creatures".
The 2022 painting contest with the theme "Marine conservation, protection of endangered, precious and rare aquatic species for future generations" received more than 2,500 entries.
The contest aims to promote the implementation of communication work to raise awareness and community capacity on the conservation and protection of endangered and rare aquatic species. Contribute to raising awareness and sense of responsibility of people in exploiting seafood in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law and international treaties on sea areas under the sovereignty and sovereign rights of Vietnam, international and foreign sea areas...
With the theme "I draw the blue ocean - home of marine creatures" , children participated in the contest by drawing pictures closely following the theme "I draw the blue ocean - home of marine creatures".
The content expressed in the drawings shares the children's emotions, stories, thoughts, and dreams on all aspects of the topic such as: Activities that often take place in marine reserves; Necessary activities to contribute to protecting and building sustainable marine reserves; Actions that should and should not be done in marine reserves; Activities to protect sea turtles, protect marine animals, protect endangered, precious, and rare aquatic species...
The work "Tears of a Sea Turtle" by author Phan Duc Kien, born in 2015, Le Lai Primary School, My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, Da Nang City, has won First Prize in the 2022 painting contest.
The works present solutions, ideas, and initiatives that contribute to protecting aquatic resources in coastal areas, protecting rare and endangered aquatic species, and exploiting seafood in accordance with regulations; Dreams and necessary actions for sustainable development of marine protected areas, the regeneration and development of rare and endangered species;…. Showing the image of the Fisheries Control force participating in the protection of aquatic resources, protecting fishermen to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea.
This year’s contest is for students aged 6-10 nationwide. It focuses on communication in areas with marine protected areas. The organizing committee will select the 30 best works of the contest to participate in the painting exhibition “I draw the blue ocean - home of marine creatures” at the closing and award ceremony. The best works of the contest will be digitized and displayed at events celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force (April 15, 2014 - April 15, 2024).
Entries must be hand-drawn on A3 paper or larger in the following media: pencil, colored powder, colored wax, oil paint, watercolor, colored markers, collage or other media (black pencil drawings are not accepted). Entries must not have been published in books, magazines or any other media.
The Organizing Committee announced that the time for receiving entries: From November 9 to December 9, 2023 (according to the postmark). Preliminary round judging: From December 11-15, 2023. Final round judging: From December 18-21, 2023. Closing and award ceremony: Expected on December 24, 2023.
