At a press conference, Mr. Ngo Khiem said that defense officials of the two countries are working together to resume military communication on the basis of equality and respect. This is the first time that the Chinese Defense Ministry has confirmed that the country is cooperating with the US to restore the military communication channel that was suspended amid the deteriorating relationship between the two powers.

Wu Qian stressed that with the consensus of the two heads of state, on the basis of equality and respect, the two countries will resume high-level military communication, China-US defense policy coordination negotiations, meetings of the China-US Military Maritime Consultative Agreement, and telephone calls between battlefield commanders. The Chinese military is willing to work with its US counterpart to promote healthy and stable China-US military relations.

In addition, Mr. Wu Qian confirmed that President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden discussed and agreed on more than 20 goals in various fields, a move that is a sign of the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US relations.

According to a representative of the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Beijing is ready to cooperate in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) management for the military, and calls on countries to be responsible for research, development and application of AI technology in the military field.

Mr. Wu Qian stated that China opposes the use of AI to undermine national sovereignty. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with different parties, and build consensus on AI policy for military purposes.
