Currently, Nam Dinh Club is scheduled to play the final match of the 2024-2025 Asian Cup C2 group stage, against Bangkok United Club (Thailand) on December 4.
After the match, three additional players were called up by the Vietnamese team, namely naturalized players Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Van Toan and Nguyen Van Vi, who will join the team from December 5.
In the case of foreign-born Vietnamese player Nguyen Xuan Son, he has been approved by the AFF to compete in the 2024 ASEAN Cup, but is only eligible to play for the Vietnamese team from the match against Myanmar on December 21.
This time frame is just enough according to FIFA regulations for a naturalized player to “reside in the territory of the relevant association for at least 5 years”.
