Conference at Thua Thien Hue bridge point

Looking back at the supervisory activities of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee in 2023, the supervisory activities of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly agencies, the National Assembly delegations and National Assembly deputies were carried out effectively with many strong innovations in thinking and implementation methods, deployed comprehensively, synchronously, and increasingly becoming substantive; improving effectiveness, efficiency, and responding flexibly and sensitively to important current issues of the country; increasing democracy, rule of law, publicity and transparency in supervisory activities, creating a spillover effect on the spirit of positive action, contributing to creating a comprehensive change in both awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and supervised issues.

At the conference, in addition to evaluating the achievements and good experiences in the supervision work of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly agencies, and the National Assembly delegations will clarify the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties, obstacles and causes, especially subjective causes in the supervision activities; at the same time, discuss and agree on the awareness, content, coordination work, and measures to effectively organize and implement the supervision activities of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee in 2024, contributing to bringing policies and laws into life, ensuring high efficiency, meeting the expectations of people and voters nationwide.

In his closing speech at the conference, the National Assembly Chairman highlighted a number of key points in the supervision activities of 2024. Accordingly, a high focus will be placed on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Supervisory Activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils; a resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee will be issued to guide the accountability activities of the Ethnic Council and National Assembly agencies; and the progress of amending and supplementing joint resolutions to contact voters of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies will be accelerated.

Thematic monitoring delegations need to make the most of available documents and files to summarize, review and evaluate contents related to monitoring issues, especially contents that are discussed to pass amended and supplemented laws at this session or at the session. Focus on monitoring the issuance of detailed guidance documents and especially the implementation stage so that laws and policies come into life and are strictly implemented.
