The contest is a key activity to honor the spirit, will and heroic tradition of the Vietnam People's Army through the creative perspectives of photographers. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to arouse national pride, patriotism and a sense of responsibility to protect the Fatherland in the new situation. The program has affirmed the correctness of the Party and State's policy on building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and gradually modern Vietnam People's Army to meet the task of protecting the country in the new period.
With a strong influence, the contest attracted 4,502 entries from many authors across the country, including 1,601 press photos and 2,901 art photos. The submitted photos realistically and vividly portrayed the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers - from the training ground, combat missions to emotional everyday moments.
After a fair and responsible working process, the Organizing Committee selected and awarded a total of 48 prizes, including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes and 12 consolation prizes for each category of press photography and art photography.
In the press photo category, the two outstanding works that won first prize were “The breathtaking moment of rescuing crew members on a ship in distress” by Nong Viet Linh and “Airborne landing training” by Vu Ngoc Hoang. Both works captured intense and emotional moments, reflecting the brave spirit and readiness to sacrifice for the mission of the soldiers.
Meanwhile, in the art photography category, the two first prizes went to “The Power of the King Cobra SU-30 MK2” by Nguyen Tien Anh Tuan and “The Power of the ‘Fire Dragon’ S-300 PMU1” by the group of authors Xuan Tung, Van Thuan, Van Oanh, Van Toan and Hai Ngoc. These photos not only demonstrate the modern power of the Vietnam People’s Army but are also highly artistic, leaving a strong impression on viewers.
After the award ceremony, the 80 best works will be displayed at the Vietnam Military History Museum and other locations to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army. This will be a "red address" for people nationwide, compatriots living far away from home and international friends to learn more about the journey of building, fighting and growing up of a heroic army.
In addition, the winning works will also be published in the media and broadcast widely on Vietnam National Defense Television at 8:10 p.m. on December 18, 2024. This is an effort by the Organizing Committee to bring emotional and meaningful stories closer to audiences nationwide.
