Awarding 2 contests about Kien Giang Border Guard

On February 23, the Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard Command organized a summary and award ceremony for the writing contest "Learning about 65 years of Border Guard tradition and Vietnam Border Law" and the art photo contest "Kien Giang Border Guard with border and island sovereignty" in 2023.

These two contests were jointly organized by the Kien Giang Border Guard, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Kien Giang Provincial Literature and Arts Association, aiming to create works of valuable content and art about the Kien Giang Border Guard in performing the task of protecting the sacred border and sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

For the writing contest, after 4 months of launching, there were 3,876 entries from cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members and people from all walks of life in the province sent to the Propaganda Department of districts, city party committees and affiliated party committees to participate in the contest.

Localities, agencies and units have selected 210 high-quality entries to submit to the provincial competition. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 19 individual prizes, including: 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes and 10 Consolation Prizes; 11 collective prizes with good achievements in launching the competition, including 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes and 2 Consolation Prizes; 3 thematic prizes are entries with the most elaborate, artistic and solemn forms of expression, with practical and effective solutions.

Units and localities with a large number of high-quality entries include: Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police, Provincial Border Guard Command; Propaganda Department of An Minh, Giong Rieng, Giang Thanh, Kien Luong, Go Quao District Party Committees, Rach Gia City Party Committee, Phu Quoc and Party Committees of Provincial Agencies - Enterprises.

Mr. Thai Van Khoi, Head of Propaganda Department of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, member of the Organizing Committee of the contest shared: The content of the contest entries clearly reflects the content of the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam Border Guard's Traditional Day, the 35th anniversary of the People's Border Guard's Day, the 49th anniversary of the Kien Giang Border Guard's Traditional Day, the Vietnam Border Guard Law and the contents on borders and territories stated in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress and the guiding documents of the Party, State and Government on border work on land.

The entries reflect and express feelings about the programs and models implemented by the Border Guard; propose many positive solutions in building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developed border. In terms of form, the entries were carefully invested by the authors, presented scientifically, creatively, printed in color, bound, boxed, decorated artistically, etc., creating a good impression on the readers.

For the art photography contest, after more than two months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 378 works from nearly 40 authors participating in the contest and selected a photo collection to display and exhibit with 100 works, of which 12 works were awarded prizes.

The content of the photo works focuses on the main theme of the image of border soldiers associated with the working and production activities of the people; patrolling activities, protecting the border, sovereignty over seas and islands, fighting against crimes... of the "Green-uniformed soldiers", reflecting quite comprehensively the activities and performance of tasks of the Kien Giang Border Guard and the development of Kien Giang province in the current period with good ideological, propaganda and educational values.

Colonel Huynh Van Dong, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard, said that the contest contributes to raising awareness of historical traditions, while demonstrating the Party and State's attention, recognition and honor for the process of building, fighting and growing up as well as the great contributions of the Kien Giang Border Guard in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in general and the task of protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in particular.

Through the contest, it contributes to informing and propagating the positive results of the implementation of the tasks of the Kien Giang Border Guard as well as encouraging and motivating officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard to make efforts, overcome difficulties, compete to complete the assigned tasks well and continue to do a good job of information and propaganda in the coming time.
