(PLVN) - On the morning of September 24, the Friendship Dialogue Conference chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee opened with more than 35 delegations of leaders from international localities having friendly cooperative relations with Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - Phan Van Mai, on behalf of the City Government and people, expressed sincere thanks to the distinguished guests who did not hesitate to travel far to visit the beloved City and participate in this meaningful event. The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee informed that according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), industrial transformation has become a global trend, with investment in high technology and digital expected to reach about 1.5 trillion USD by 2030. We are living in a period of profound industrial transformation, where innovation and sustainable development become decisive factors for success... The 2nd Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue in 2024 with the theme "Industrial transformation: Experience and priorities in development cooperation" and the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum in 2024 with the theme "Industrial transformation, a new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City" will take place from September 23 to 27 with many important events. Looking to the future, Ho Chi Minh City is committed to continuing to be a dynamic, open and sincere partner with localities around the world. The City believes that, through promoting the spirit of friendship and cooperation, we will not only achieve common goals but also build a better future for humanity. We hope that, through the 2024 Friendship Dialogue, localities, businesses and people will have more opportunities to exchange and cooperate to develop together more strongly. Within the framework of the Program, delegates listened to the Overview Report on Industrial Transformation in Ho Chi Minh City and discussed the industrial transformation process of international localities. Including experience in building policies to promote industrial growth in localities; technological innovations; resource mobilization (PPP, finance, human resources ...). Delegates also assessed the difficulties and challenges of Ho Chi Minh City in the process of industrial transformation and proposed groups of fields that can cooperate with the City.
It is expected that at the plenary session, delegates will hear reports on the main topics: Megatrends in industrial transformation in the world; Governance ecosystem and policies to promote industrial transformation; Ho Chi Minh City's industrial transformation strategy in the context of regional, international connectivity and new technology trends; The role of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City associated with industrial transformation.

The Policy Dialogue session aims to create opportunities for localities and enterprises to have in-depth and substantive exchanges with the Prime Minister and Central Ministries and agencies on the current situation and solutions in applying the industrial transformation model in the City as well as national strategic issues, and at the same time recommend to the Government models, solutions and policies at the macro level. On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City will organize the inauguration ceremony and launch ceremony of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Ho Chi Minh City. The Center's headquarters is located in the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, officially put into operation from September 24, 2024. The Center will be part of the global network of the World Economic Forum (WEF), thereby strengthening cooperation with C4IR Centers around the world to support the proposal of solutions and policy recommendations, research on the City's priority breakthrough areas in line with national orientations and international trends. The Center contributes to mobilizing resources, capital, and supporting the Government and businesses to apply new technologies in line with the trend of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Ho Chi Minh City. The C4IR Center in Ho Chi Minh City will operate in the form of a public-private partnership with large Vietnamese and City enterprises participating in the founding. This is the result of the efforts of the Government and Ho Chi Minh City in promoting increasingly deep cooperation between Vietnam and the World Economic Forum (WEF). On June 26, 2023, at the WEF Tianjin Conference, the Government of Vietnam and the World Economic Forum (WEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2023 - 2026 under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prof. Klaus Schwab - Founding Chairman of the World Economic Forum.
From 2023-2024, implementing the Prime Minister's direction, Ho Chi Minh City has proactively worked with WEF and achieved results such as: Signing a joint statement for the establishment of C4IR at the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum in 2023 and Signing a cooperation agreement to establish a Center in Ho Chi Minh City with WEF at the annual World Economic Forum in January 2024 in Davos, Switzerland...
