The journey to pursue dreams is never easy, especially for children living in a poor rural area on the sand dunes. Besides their own constant efforts, the children also have to overcome prejudice and opposition from their families.

The trailer for “Flip Side 8: Vong Tay Nang” opens with a grand concert, with a stage full of sparkling lights and thousands of spectators. Immediately after that, the image of white sand dunes appears, contrasting with the sun, wind, and the dryness of the cacti.

The first scene also shows the differences in color tones in the film, with one side being the dark color of the stage highlighted by the lights, and the other side being the sunlight on the white sand dunes with the hardships and difficulties of a land "plowing on rocks".

The use of color contrast is also Ly Hai's artistic intention, when for people who live all year round on the sand dunes, becoming an artist is an overly unrealistic and frivolous dream.

Mr. Phuoc (Long Dep Trai) is also a father who wants stability for his children with the path of university education, while his eldest son - Tam (Doan The Vinh) wants to conquer his dream of becoming an idol.

And to make their dream come true, Tam and her friends formed the band The Light and submitted their entries to the big music competition - Hi Idols. However, difficulties kept coming, when conflicts arose during the practice process, and trying alone was probably not enough.

Also in the film's trailer, the different views between generations in Tam's family are clearly shown. The grandmother, who is often thought of as "a person from the previous generation", is the one who understands and supports the dreams of her two grandchildren.

Not only focusing on Tam's family, Ly Hai also explores the stories of other members in The Light. Each family, each situation, but the way of giving advice to children is completely different.

Unlike Mr. Phuoc and Mrs. Hien, Le's family, with a blind mother, loves their son very much. Even though Le is worried about his dream of becoming famous, why can't his mother? Or Thanh's mother, she lets Thanh choose his own path, because what Thanh chooses today will decide his future.
