Ho Chi Minh City monitors and directs 10 cases of corruption and waste

(NLDO) - The work of preventing corruption and negativity in Ho Chi Minh City has clearly changed, increasingly going into depth and substance.

On January 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee held a conference to review the internal affairs work of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai attended and chaired the conference.

Reporting at the conference, Ms. Pham Thi Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that in 2024, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity of the city implemented the conclusions of the General Secretary and Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity at the meetings.

The work of preventing corruption and negativity in Ho Chi Minh City has clearly changed, increasingly going into depth, substance and achieving many specific results. Solutions to prevent corruption and negativity have been strongly and synchronously deployed. Many corruption, economic and negativity cases have been brought to trial, the results have been agreed and supported by public opinion.

The activities of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Wastefulness in Ho Chi Minh City are increasingly becoming more systematic, promoting its role and responsibility, and effectively implementing all aspects of work.

The Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity in Ho Chi Minh City is monitoring and directing 10 cases and 13 incidents. Of these, 2 cases are under the monitoring and direction of the Central Steering Committee. Currently, the prosecution agencies in Ho Chi Minh City are making efforts to focus on speeding up the investigation and handling process.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai assessed that in 2024, the City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee will preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to advise on the effective implementation of tasks on internal affairs, anti-corruption, anti-negativity and judicial reform in the 2024 Work Program of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and arising contents. The Internal Affairs Committee will also advise on the preliminary and final review of documents of the Central Committee, the City Party Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee in accordance with regulations.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders awarded Certificates of Merit from the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to representatives of collectives with outstanding achievements in internal affairs.

Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai suggested that in 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee continue to advise the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to thoroughly grasp and fully and seriously implement the directions of the Central Committee, the City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on internal affairs, preventing and combating corruption, waste, negativity and judicial reform.

Strengthen coordination, proactively monitor and grasp the situation, promptly advise and propose to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to lead and direct the handling of complex and outstanding issues regarding security and order; sabotage activities of hostile, reactionary and opportunistic political forces; mass, complicated and prolonged complaints, etc., to avoid becoming "hot spots", being passive and surprised in all situations. Coordinate and carefully prepare plans and strategies to absolutely protect the safety of party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Advise on improving the quality of operations of the Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity. Develop and advise on the effective implementation of the 2025 Work Program of the Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity in the city.

In addition, strictly implement the Politburo's regulations on controlling power, preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity in inspection, supervision, and enforcement of party discipline; in investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution of judgments; in inspection and auditing activities; in personnel work; and in management and use of public finance and assets.

In addition, early detection, timely and strict handling of corruption, waste and negative cases, not allowing small violations to accumulate into major violations. Strengthening coordination, proactively and resolutely removing difficulties and obstacles in appraisal and valuation; speeding up the investigation, prosecution and trial of cases, especially cases and incidents under monitoring and direction; coordinating research, review and bringing a number of wasteful cases to the monitoring and direction of the City Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Waste and Negative Cases.
