Following the success of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and Thu Duc City Book Street, Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street aims to expand reading culture to the South of the city with the orientation of developing a multifunctional integrated space, connecting the community and promoting sustainable values.

Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street not only displays books

In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Tran The Thuan said that Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street is expected to be inaugurated and put into operation on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day.

"The project promises to meet people's expectations and wishes for a space to enjoy cultural and spiritual values, socio-economic efficiency, and programs and activities associated with the development of reading culture.

Along with the groundbreaking ceremony of Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street, it is expected that on April 25, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City will coordinate with the People's Committee of Binh Tan District to organize the inauguration ceremony of Binh Tan Book Street and Cu Chi Book Space.

All will become a system of book streets and book spaces in the East, West, South and North directions of Ho Chi Minh City. That is the unique thing about the city's culture in general and reading culture in particular," said Mr. Tran The Thuan.

Mr. Chau Xuan Dai Thang, acting chairman of District 7 People's Committee, said that Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street was not only a place to display books, but also a living treasure trove of knowledge, a place where people of all ages can explore, learn, create and connect.

Speaking to the press, Mr. Tran Van Ly - Director of District 7 Culture and Sports Center, investor of Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street - said that the project aims to diversify models to attract and create appeal to potential customers such as students, tourists.

One of the notable highlights of the project is the integration of modern technology in a space imbued with traditional culture.

Smart libraries apply modern VR, AI and IOT technologies to help readers easily access new and interesting books, increase their initiative in choosing books according to their needs and digital transformation areas; spaces to support startups and young creativity provide open learning experiences, encourage innovative thinking and access knowledge in a flexible and modern way.

In addition, Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street is also a place to honor Vietnamese culture through exhibition spaces, art displays, promotion of regional specialties and Vietnamese brands.

Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street also commits to accompany regular activities: street art performances, music, and a series of periodic cultural events such as: International Book Festival, Ao Dai Festival, Three-region Culinary Festival...

The investment scale will include 1 space for a smart library; 1 area for a space to support digital transformation startups and innovation, combined with the office of the book street management board and 16 booths.

In which, the complex space of books - tea - coffee will be invested in and designed in a green, airy and energetic direction to inspire and attract people to sit and read books, gradually creating a habit and culture of reading.

There is also a smart library applying modern AI technology; interactive children's playground with physical and intellectual games; booths introducing services, cultural and tourist products, regional specialties, green food; art exhibition spaces and tourism culture promotion; music and art spaces for performing artists.
