On the morning of December 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee opened the 34th Conference of the 11th City Party Executive Committee (expanded). Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen chaired the conference.
Attending the conference were Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai; Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le; Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that the conference aimed to assess the socio-economic situation in 2024 and key tasks and solutions in 2025; summarize the work of Party building, government, mass mobilization in 2024, key tasks and solutions in 2025; report on the results of 4 years of implementing Resolution 26 of the City Party Committee on investment in construction and completion of Thu Thiem New Urban Area before 2030; report on the results of 3 years of implementing Resolution 05 of the City Party Committee on the Master Plan for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Economic Recovery in the city after September 15, 2021.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen delivered the opening speech at the conference.
At the same time, the conference also discussed the implementation of the Conclusion of General Secretary To Lam at the National Conference to disseminate and summarize the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee on December 1, and considered a number of other important contents.
Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that up to now, according to statistics, it is estimated that the implementation of the main tasks set out in 2024 has been basically completed. Accordingly, the estimated GRDP growth for the whole year is about 7.17%; the budget revenue in the area for the whole year is more than 502 trillion VND (an increase of 12% compared to 2023, contributing about 27% of the total budget revenue of the whole country).
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen affirmed that this number is very meaningful, representing the efforts and common contributions of Ho Chi Minh City. Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that this contribution was emphasized by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the 5th Conference of the Southeast Regional Coordination Council recently.

With two key contents in the 2024 theme of implementing Digital Transformation and Resolution 98 of the National Assembly, Ho Chi Minh City has also achieved quite positive results. The city has devoted more resources to investing in cultural - social development, education and training, health care, people's health care, sustainable poverty reduction, and improving people's quality of life.
"These results have contributed significantly to the country's efforts to stabilize the macro-economy, control inflation, and ensure major balances. National defense and security have been maintained - social order and safety have been ensured" - the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed.
Conference delegates
The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also noted that besides the encouraging results, the city still has limitations, weaknesses, and problems that need to be overcome. These include the disbursement of public investment capital and the progress of projects to reduce traffic congestion, flooding, environmental pollution, develop social housing, renovate old apartments, and solve housing problems along canals, etc.
Regarding the work of Party building, government, and mass mobilization in 2024, and the main tasks and solutions in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City continues to achieve many quite comprehensive results. The content, methods of leadership, style, and manners are constantly being innovated. Many measures to prevent, suppress, and repel degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", and "self-transformation" within the Party have been effectively implemented.
Political and ideological work is associated with building a "Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space". Continue to pay attention to inspection, supervision, party discipline and the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, along with resolving complicated and long-standing cases. Timely deploy preparations for party congresses at all levels in conjunction with perfecting and consolidating the organization, staff and planning the next generation for the next term.
At the conference, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee asked delegates to promote a sense of responsibility, focus on research, discuss democratically, boldly propose new issues, good initiatives and necessary counter-arguments. From there, they will come up with highly feasible plans and strive to implement the proposed plans.
