At a joint press conference with the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, Mr. Zelensky pointed out that, to do this, it is necessary to "help Ukraine as much as possible to organize the second peace summit this year".
Stressing that “the upcoming summit can put an end to this conflict”, the leader also added that his “peace formula” was the only real way to end the conflict.
Earlier, President Zelensky said that Kiev would draw up a new plan to resolve the conflict in November, and pledged to present the document to his US counterpart Joe Biden, as well as US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
In June 2024, the first Ukraine Peace Summit of the year took place in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock.
Host President Viola Amherd stressed that the event was an opportunity for all parties to share their views on finding a solution for peace in Ukraine. In addition, the conference also discussed how and when Moscow could participate in this peace process.
In a press release, the Swiss Federal Council assessed that the development of a final lasting solution requires the participation of both Russia and Ukraine.
The conference was attended by representatives from more than 90 countries. Russia did not attend the event.
