Moscow Mayor declares anti-terrorist operation

RT quoted Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin's statement saying that anti-terrorist operations have been launched in the capital, describing the situation as very difficult.

According to Mr. Sobyanin, it is likely that Moscow will restrict travel on June 26 to ensure people's safety against security risks from the rebellion of the private mercenary force Wagner.

Mr Sobyanin also called on city residents to limit their movements and warned that traffic in some areas could be halted indefinitely.

Wagner forces are only 370 km from Moscow.

RT quoted Lipetsk Region Governor Igor Artamonov as saying that Wagner forces are moving through Lipetsk, from which Moscow is only about 370 km south.

Mr. Artamonov also issued a statement calling on people to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel.

“The situation remains under control,” Mr. Artamonov said, adding that the region’s vital infrastructure continues to function.

Meanwhile, in the city of Rostov, special forces units of Akhmat, the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation, entered the city gates.

Earlier, the leader of the Chechen Republic, Lieutenant General Ramzan Kadyrov, also announced that his forces were ready to help quell Wagner's rebellion and use tough measures if necessary.

Fire at fuel depot in Voronezh region

On June 24, Mr. Alexander Gusev - Governor of Voronezh region in southern Russia, said emergency forces are trying to extinguish a fire that broke out at an oil depot in this province.

Sharing on Telegram, Mr. Alexander Gusev said more than 100 firefighters and 30 pieces of equipment were mobilized to put out the fire at the scene.

Preliminary reports indicate a decrease in pressure in two petrochemical product (jet fuel) tanks, each with a capacity of 5 tons of fuel, at an oil depot on Dimitrov Street. However, only one tank caught fire.

On the same day, the Governor of Voronezh region also announced that the National Guard and the local Ministry of Internal Affairs are deploying necessary military measures in the region within the framework of the anti-terrorist operation carried out by Russia after the Wagner mercenary force rebelled.

Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Condemns Wagner Rebellion

On June 24, writing on the Telegram channel, Director of the Russian Federal Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said that the attempt to destabilize society and fan the flames of civil war had failed, and that Russians had demonstrated their ability to distinguish between truth and lies.

President Putin reassures allies after Wagner rebellion

TASS news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that President Putin had a phone conversation with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. "President Putin informed his counterparts about the situation in Russia," Mr. Peskov said.

On his Telegram page, Belarusian President Lukashenko said that in a conversation with him, President Putin declared that he would crush the rebellion led by the leader of the private military company Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Earlier, on the morning of June 24 (local time), Russian President Putin delivered a direct speech to all Russian people after Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin declared a rebellion.

RT quoted a live speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 24 stating that the rebellion by the leader of the private military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was an act of betrayal against Russia and the Russian people.

The Russian president also ordered the country's law enforcement agencies to take decisive measures to restore order.

RT also posted a minute-long video showing a crowd fleeing a street near the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District Command. It is not yet clear if there were any casualties in the incident.

Mr. Medvedev called on the Russian people to unite around President Putin.

According to Sputnik , on June 24, on the Telegram channel, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federal Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called on everyone to unite around President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian Federal Security Service has sealed off the Wagner Center building in St. Petersburg, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti . Videos posted on Wagner's Telegram social media accounts show Russian security personnel at the private military corporation's headquarters in St. Petersburg and a fence around the building.

The development comes after the head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was placed under criminal investigation by Russia.

According to RT, the Russian Anti-Terrorism Committee said the FSB has opened a criminal investigation against Mr. Yevgeny Prigozhin on the grounds of calling for armed uprising.

“We demand an immediate end to all illegal activities,” the Counter-Terrorism Committee said.

President Putin: Will do everything to protect Russia

According to Russian television channel RT and news agency TASS, in a televised speech on June 24 about the recent situation in Russia, President Vladimir Putin said he would do everything to protect Russia.

"We are fighting for the lives and security of our people. The gunmen of the Wagner mercenary group have been deceived," Putin said.

President Putin stressed: "We will take decisive actions to stabilize the situation in Rostov. All those who participated in the 'rebellion' will be punished."

The Russian leader added that the Russian armed forces have received the necessary orders.

According to President Putin, the uprising of the head of the private military company Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin is a betrayal of Russia and its people.

Call on Wagner members not to join Prigozhin's rebellion

In a statement posted on Telegram today, the Russian Defense Ministry called on Wagner soldiers not to participate in the "armed coup" ordered by Yevgeny Prigozhin and to return to base.

On June 23, Russia's Anti-Terrorism Committee said that Yevgeny Prigozhin is under investigation for allegedly supporting a mutiny against the government.

Russia's decision to open an investigation came after the private military group Wagner announced that its training camp had been hit by a missile attack, causing heavy casualties. Mr Prigozhin accused the Russian military of being behind the attack and vowed to retaliate.

Hours before announcing the attack on the Wagner training camp, Prigozhin posted a video accusing the Russian military of withdrawing from several bases in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, and claiming that the Russian Defense Ministry had passed on false reports about the war situation to President Vladimir Putin.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on June 23 that all messages and videos circulating on social media about the attack on the Wagner group's rear base "are untrue and provocative."

Russian army put on full alert

Wagner is a mercenary force that plays a major role in Russian forces fighting in Ukraine. However, its boss, Prigozhin, has a tense relationship with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

On the morning of June 24, Mr. Prigozhin announced that Wagner forces had left Ukraine - where they were fighting - and entered Russian territory, reaching the Rostov region. " We are moving forward and will go to the end," he said.
