US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to hold face-to-face talks on November 15 in San Francisco on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Reuters news agency quoted an unnamed senior US official as saying on November 7 that this will be the first summit this year between the two leaders of China and the US and is planned when Mr. Biden arrives in San Francisco to host the APEC Summit. This move comes at a time when the two sides are trying to find ways to stabilize the fierce competition of recent times.
The US and Chinese presidents last met nearly a year ago on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. While China has yet to confirm President Xi Jinping's attendance at the upcoming APEC summit, the White House confirmed last week that the two countries have agreed in principle to a meeting between their leaders in San Francisco.
Regarding the APEC Summit, according to AP, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is expected to meet with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on November 9 and 10 in San Francisco, before the finance ministers of APEC member countries officially open the summit on November 11.
