In 2024, foreign affairs and diplomacy have been proactively, synchronously, creatively and effectively implemented, continuing to make important contributions to firmly consolidating a peaceful and stable environment and an open foreign policy situation, favorable for socio-economic development and protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while continuing to enhance Vietnam's international position and prestige.
Foreign affairs work has been increasingly upgraded, strongly promoting its pioneering role, creating increasingly high consensus and achieving many new developments in the fields of bilateral and multilateral foreign affairs, political diplomacy, economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, foreign information, work with overseas Vietnamese and citizen protection.

Along with the synchronous implementation of foreign affairs work, the construction and development of the Diplomatic sector continues to be promoted to meet the requirements of the task, focusing on strengthening Party building, building a comprehensive, modern, professional diplomatic staff, preserving and promoting the unique identity of Vietnamese diplomacy, building a "refined, compact, strong, efficient, effective and efficient" apparatus.
In addition to the achieved results, foreign affairs and diplomacy have yet to fully exploit the potential of partnership frameworks, including some partnership frameworks that have just been upgraded and enhanced; the implementation of some agreements and cooperation commitments is still confusing...
In 2025, the diplomatic sector will focus on firmly grasping and accurately forecasting the situation, sensitively detecting new issues and trends, accurately identifying opportunities to always maintain strategic initiative in the face of rapid and complex developments of the situation; synchronously deploying and raising the level of foreign affairs, including Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy; well organizing high-level foreign affairs activities of Party and State leaders; promoting upgrading and enhancing relations with important partners; effectively taking advantage of commitments and agreements, attracting new resources to implement national development goals...

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the achievements of the Foreign Affairs sector in 2024. At the same time, he emphasized that in the coming time, the Foreign Affairs sector will continue to grasp the situation, proactively propose timely, flexible and effective proposals for both Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy; further promote the effectiveness of agreements and treaties that Vietnam has signed with countries and partners to turn them into important resources for national development; maintain, consolidate and strengthen a favorable foreign situation, promote a conference environment, cooperation and development with all countries, especially major countries, traditional partners and friends; diplomatic activities must contribute to promoting new productive forces such as Big Data, AI, cloud computing, biomedicine, new materials, quantum science, new energy, clean energy, cultural and entertainment industries in the new context; Complete organizational stability, build a streamlined, effective and efficient diplomatic apparatus; improve the quality of civil servants and public employees in the diplomatic sector; consolidate and enhance the sector's material potential both domestically and internationally, build a modern and professional diplomatic sector; strengthen coordination and synchronous implementation of foreign affairs activities...
