'Lighting up' the Youth Union movement from the grassroots

With more than 10 years of working in the Youth Union, Ho Tuan An, the Acting Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Binh Commune (Tan Tru District, Long An Province), has always demonstrated the role of an exemplary, energetic, enthusiastic and responsible leader . In his position, he has "lit the fire" for the local youth movement to grow stronger.

In 2014, Mr. An started working at the People's Committee of My Binh Commune, Tan Tru District (now Tan Binh Commune) as Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the Commune. He was then elected as Deputy Secretary of the My Binh Commune Youth Union (in 2015). Due to his work efficiency, he has always been trusted by union members, youths and superiors.

After 4 years, he was elected as Secretary of the Youth Union of My Binh commune. In 2020, after My Binh commune and An Nhut Tan commune merged and established Tan Binh commune, Mr. An was assigned as Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Binh commune and he is currently Acting Secretary of the Youth Union of Tan Binh commune.

With the enthusiasm of youth, Mr. An is always proactive and active with the Executive Committee of the Commune Youth Union, closely following the resolutions, programs and plans of the higher-level Youth Union and the Party Committee to develop plans and programs of Youth Union activities and youth movements associated with local characteristics, meeting the needs and legitimate aspirations of young union members.

In particular, focusing on strongly developing volunteer activities in the Youth Union such as Volunteering for community life; launching Green Sunday, Volunteer Saturday; building models: Bright, green, clean roads, National flag roads,...

The activities organized by Tan Binh Commune Youth Union have all brought about practical results, contributing significantly to the work of uniting and gathering young union members, promoting youth strength, joining hands in building new rural areas, and promoting the socio-economic development of the commune.

As a leader of the local Youth Union, he always sets an example in movements and activities, actively develops volunteer activities in the Youth Union; regularly organizes cultural and sports exchanges; advises the Party Committee and local authorities to pay attention to implementing policies for young people. He actively encourages young people to boldly start businesses and build a number of effective economic models in the Youth Union such as raising goats, growing grapes, etc. In addition, he also guides and coordinates with centers to introduce jobs for young people in the locality.

Sharing about the difficulties in organizing and implementing Youth Union activities in the locality, Mr. An said that Tan Binh commune currently has 11 Youth Union branches with 74 members. Most of the Youth Union members work in companies and factories and only have Sundays off, so attracting and gathering Youth Union members to participate in Youth Union activities is very difficult.

Being the leader of the commune's Youth Union is a big challenge for Mr. An, but with the enthusiasm and responsibility of a Youth Union officer, he is always exemplary, taking the lead in movements and activities and has many effective initiatives and solutions to contribute to "igniting" the enthusiasm of the young generation; gathering a large number of youth forces.

Secretary of Tan Tru District Youth Union - Nguyen Thanh Duy commented: "Mr. Ho Tuan An is an enthusiastic and capable Youth Union officer, always taking the lead in Youth Union activities. In the process of organizing the movement, Mr. An was enthusiastic, proactive, creative and gathered a large number of young union members to participate in youth projects, bringing practical results to the locality".

With outstanding achievements in the Youth Union, Mr. Ho Tuan An has been honored to receive certificates of merit from the Provincial Youth Union and Tan Tru District Youth Union for many consecutive years for his good achievements in the Youth Union and youth movement in the locality.

"Big friend" of students

In 2012, Mr. Tran Van Thong was assigned to work at Thanh Hoa High School (Thanh Hoa town, Thanh Hoa district) and teach Physical Education - National Defense and Security. Over 13 years of dedication to the career of "growing people" is the same number of years he has participated in implementing the Youth Union movements at the unit and no matter what position he holds, he always completes the assigned work well with all his heart and enthusiasm.

After more than 3 years working at the school, Mr. Thong was elected as Secretary of the School Youth Union and gradually became a "great friend" of many generations of students. Since taking up the task, he and the School Youth Union Executive Committee have closely followed the direction of the Provincial Youth Union, District Youth Union and the School Board of Directors to organize many exciting movements and activities attracting the participation of Youth Union members and students. Through that, the students have fun, are educated in life skills, study and follow the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh.

Secretary of the Youth Union of Thanh Hoa High School (Thanh Hoa District) - Tran Van Thong not only does a good job in teaching but also actively participates in implementing the Youth Union movements at the unit.

Mr. Thong shared: "Following Uncle Ho's teaching "Where there is a need for Youth, there is Youth for any difficult task", I always try to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the Youth Union members and students and be a good example and pioneer in the school's Youth Union movements".

Every year, the Union activities are organized with rich content and regularly innovated forms, leaving deep impressions and emotions for students. Thereby, contributing to personality and physical education, creating a healthy and useful playground for them.

Mr. Ho Tuan An and Mr. Tran Van Thong are two of hundreds of Youth Union leaders who have been doing a good job of “igniting” the Youth Union movement at the grassroots level.
