General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong receives Head of the Central External Relations Commission of the Cambodian People's Party

On October 18, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Comrade Prak Sokhonn, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee, and Supreme Advisor to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

Comrade Prak Sokhonn expressed his joy in visiting Vietnam, thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for his reception, and congratulated Vietnam on the important achievements it has made in recent times, especially in Party building, socio-economic development, expansion of foreign relations and international integration, in which he highly appreciated the foreign policy and diplomacy of "Vietnam's bamboo". Comrade Prak Sokhonn believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese people would continue to gain many new and greater achievements, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Comrade Prak Sokhonn highly appreciated and was excited about the increasingly developing Cambodia-Vietnam relationship in all fields, bringing practical benefits to the people of each country, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world. Comrade Prak Sokhonn deeply thanked Vietnam for the great and valuable support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia in the cause of national liberation, saving the country and the Cambodian people from the genocidal regime as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

Comrade Prak Sokhonn, member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Central External Relations Commission of the Cambodian People's Party, emphasized the successful results and significance of the 7th National Assembly election in Cambodia, the establishment of the new Government, the consolidation of the Party and Government apparatus, the socio-economic development situation, and the implementation of Cambodia's foreign affairs. Comrade Prak Sokhonn reported to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the results of the talks between the two Central External Relations Commissions, the cooperative relationship between the two parties and countries, and the direction of cooperation in the coming time. Comrade Prak Sokhonn affirmed that Cambodia will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement the Treaties, Agreements, Agreements and Conclusions between the high-ranking leaders of the two parties and countries, and emphasized that no matter what position he holds, he will do his best to foster the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship to grow further.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed and highly appreciated the significance of Comrade Prak Sokhonn's visit to Vietnam, and congratulated Cambodia on its achievements, especially the successful organization of the National Assembly election, the great victory of the Cambodian People's Party, the establishment of the National Assembly, the new Government and the transfer of leadership generation. These results demonstrate the people's support for the Cambodian People's Party led by President Hun Sen, who has led the Cambodian people to maintain political stability, develop the socio-economy, ensure national defense and security and expand foreign relations. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam always supports the cause of building and developing Cambodia and believes that Cambodia will continue to achieve new, greater and more comprehensive achievements in implementing the Platform of the Cambodian People's Party for the 2023-2028 period and the Strategy set forth by the 7th Government.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that the historical tradition of solidarity, close ties and mutual assistance between the two Parties and States is a valuable asset, one of the most important factors, the greatest source of strength for the cause of national liberation and independence in the past as well as in the current cause of national protection, construction and development, and affirmed to jointly preserve and foster the Vietnam - Cambodia relationship to develop further. The two parties have the same origin from the Indochinese Communist Party, the two countries are brotherly neighbors. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the Cambodian Party and people to the cause of national liberation and national construction and protection of the Vietnamese people.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his delight at the relations between the two parties and countries that have been continuously consolidated, developed extensively and achieved many important achievements in various fields, effectively implementing the contents of the Agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two parties and countries, making an important contribution to maintaining political stability, ensuring national defense and security, socio-economic development and enhancing the international position of each party and country. The General Secretary shared his feelings and attachment to President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen, the leaders of the Cambodian Party and State, his respect for the culture and history of Cambodia and his affection for the Cambodian people.

The General Secretary suggested that both sides effectively implement the contents of the Meeting between the two parties’ senior leaders and the Meeting between the three leading comrades of the three parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos; continue to innovate the cooperation methods between the two parties to meet the requirements of the new situation. Accordingly, continue to consider political relations as the core of the overall orientation for the bilateral relationship; consolidate the pillar of defense and security cooperation; strengthen cooperation in foreign affairs; create breakthroughs, improve the effectiveness of economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong thanked comrade Prak Sokhonn for respectfully conveying the regards of President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen and to King Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen and Cambodian leaders.

* During the delegation's visit, on October 17, comrade Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission, held talks with comrade Prak Sokhonn, member of the Central Standing Committee, Head of the Cambodian People's Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission.

At the talks, the two sides informed each other about the situation of each party and country, especially in terms of Party building and socio-economic development; discussed recent emerging world and regional situations and foreign affairs of each party and country; assessed the cooperative relationship between the two parties and countries, cooperation between the two Central External Relations Commissions and issues of mutual concern.

The two sides had in-depth discussions on the direction of cooperation in the coming time in various fields to develop more deeply, effectively and practically, especially in the cooperation between the two Parties. Accordingly, the two Central Foreign Affairs Commissions increased the exchange of information on the international situation and each Party and each country, sharing experiences in cooperation to well perform the assigned functions and tasks. The two sides affirmed that they will closely coordinate to effectively implement the Agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries, contributing to consolidating and further deepening the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia.

During his visit to Vietnam, Comrade Prak Sokhonn worked with the leaders and visited a number of economic, cultural and tourism establishments in Hanoi, Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh Province.
