At the concert “Chopin: Magical Piano” on December 8, the audience will meet pianists Nguyen Viet Trung and Eric Lu with the Sun Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Olivier Ochanine through the two Concertos No. 1 and No. 2 by composer Frédéric Chopin.
With the music night “Echoes of Genius: An Evening with Beethoven, Mozart & Brahms” on December 9, the program opened with Beethoven's Overture to Fidelio, Op. 72.
The highlight of the program is the simultaneous appearance of two artists Eric Lu and Nguyen Viet Trung in the special work Concerto No. 10, K365 written for two pianos by Mozart.
Despite differences in nationality and style of expression, both share the same passion and desire to “devote themselves to music”.
The concert will be an unforgettable experience, where the audience will enjoy sublime moments of music and immerse themselves in timeless works, filled with youthful energy and aspirations. The program will conclude with Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.
If Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is known as a composer whose works strictly adhere to the rules and styles of classical music, with clear, balanced structures and pure musical qualities, smooth melodies, and rich harmonies; then Beethoven is a musical creator who broke the rules, common perceptions, and views of classical music.
Beethoven's music shows a harmonious, balanced combination of intense emotions and top musical techniques. Frédéric Chopin shows romance, full of emotions with lyrical melodies, requiring the artist to master the technique to be able to express the ultimate emotions without being dominated by the technique.
Artist Nguyen Viet Trung shared: “With Chopin’s music, I have more advantages because I have been exposed to Chopin’s music since I was young. His music is lyrical and poetic, and I think that is also my strength when playing Chopin’s works.
I think playing Chopin requires more flexibility of the wrist. When you master the technique, you can free your mind and just let your soul fly with the flow of emotions in the music.
The two shows were different works, with different styles of expression from the artists. However, music has no borders, no distinction of skin color or ethnicity, but is the harmony between yin and yang, connecting heaven and earth. Music is like a thread connecting generations, the sound of time, connecting the past and the present.
The sublimation of the artists on stage will also bring the audience a completely different experience that is not easy to get in the early winter days at Ho Guom Theater, where the quintessence of world and Vietnamese music converges.
