With over 20 years of working at Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill - Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company, engineer Pham Xuan Huy - Head of the Rolling Mill Turning Team, Rolling Workshop, Luu Xa Steel Rolling Mill understands the hardships of workers better than anyone else. Therefore, during his work, he always wants to contribute to improving working conditions for workers, reducing manual labor, and enhancing mechanization and automation capacity in production labor.
“ The older the production line, the more difficult it is, the more the workers want to improve to reduce labor, apply science and technology to production to increase efficiency, and increase productivity. Therefore, the Factory's leaders pay special attention, especially to environmental initiatives. Each workshop has a support team, workers propose ideas, support teams help write proposals so that initiatives can be implemented, and the emulation movement has been maintained very well over the years. This is a good condition to help us strive to find initiatives, bring about work efficiency, and improve working conditions for our colleagues " - said engineer Pham Xuan Huy.
From those concerns, during the production process, he always sought solutions to improve work efficiency. While working and adjusting technology, from his work experience, many proposals and technical improvement initiatives were proposed by him to the business to apply to improve labor productivity, save raw materials, fuel and materials. He was born and put into practical production application, bringing high efficiency. Among the many initiatives he proposed, there were initiatives focusing on reducing labor for workers.
A typical example is the initiative "Design and manufacture of a 50×50 billet scraper mechanism". Accordingly, based on the reality that workers operating the 150T cutting machine after cutting off the defective 50×50 billets, the last part of the billet through the No. 1 rolling rack must be manually operated using a long steel rod as a hook to pull the scrap billet down to the scrap container, which is quite difficult. Therefore, the idea in his design is to apply automation so that workers operating the 50×50 billet cutting machine will control the steering lock, at this time the scraper mechanism will operate through the piston stroke. This not only improves working conditions for workers but also enhances the mechanization and automation capacity in production labor.
As the leader of the Rolling Mill Lathe Team, Rolling Workshop, engineer Pham Xuan Huy not only "dares to think, dares to do", but also always coordinates with the workers in the team to overcome all difficulties to complete the assigned tasks well; learns and researches the irrationalities in production, to be determined to come up with reasonable solutions for the production process.
He and his colleagues always strive to do a good job in the training of the team in many forms, such as: Assigning highly qualified and skilled workers to guide and mentor lower-level workers, so as not to affect the productivity and quality of products; proposing to the functional department to open a class to instruct the operation of CNC groove milling machines, molybdenum wire cutting machines and CNC lathes for 18 workers in the factory; mentoring the skills of 12 workers who were promoted on time; mentoring 4 workers in the annual competition to select excellent workers organized by the company.
With his continuous efforts, engineer Pham Xuan Huy has been awarded many Certificates of Merit by Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Company, the Trade Union of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. In 2023, he was honored to receive the 4th Nguyen Duc Canh Award.
Talking about Pham Xuan Huy, his colleagues at Luu Xa Steel Rolling Factory always give him respect and affection. Not only is he a skilled engineer with many contributions, but many of his initiatives are always aimed at workers, contributing to improving efficiency and reducing labor. From there, workers are less tired and more attached to the business.
