To support ethnic minority women in Yen Lap district (Phu Tho) to reduce poverty, the Women's Union of Luong Son commune has established a garment production model. The model has helped hundreds of women escape poverty and have a stable income of 5 to 10 million VND/month.

The Thuy Quang Sewing Group was founded by Ms. Phung Thi Hong Thuy, a Muong ethnic in Xuan Huong hamlet, four years ago. Each year, the group creates jobs for 10-13 workers, mainly women with young children who cannot work far away. Of these, ethnic minority women account for two-thirds of the group's workforce.

Ms. Phung Thi Hong Thuy founded the Sewing Group 4 years ago, attracting dozens of workers.

According to Ms. Thuy, the production team specializes in sewing home clothes, jackets, sun-protective shirts, windbreakers, etc. In the summer, when students are on vacation, women can work more and have more time, so their income is also higher. The average salary is from 5-10 million VND/month. This is a pretty good income for women in the area.

To help the women master the profession, Ms. Thuy personally provides free training. Each training course takes 2-3 months, and she covers all costs for the women to study and practice until they can produce products that meet standards.

At first, Ms. Thuy took the trouble to find an outlet for her products. Up to now, the outlet has been relatively stable, creating regular jobs for many women. Ms. Thuy proudly said that in 4 years of making products for customers in Hanoi, she has never had to return any of her products. That is thanks to the meticulousness in training and sewing skills of the women in the group.

"In addition to sewing, we also do gardening and animal husbandry. Everyone is very united and helps each other in their work, so the activities of the Sewing Group are quite favorable," Ms. Thuy shared.

Like Thuy Quang Sewing Group, Thao Nghia Sewing Group also creates jobs for more than 30 workers, mainly Muong and Dao ethnic women. The group has been in operation for 8 years and is a stable economic model that helps many women earn extra income.

Ms. Hoang Thi Huong Thao, Manager of Thao Nghia Sewing Group, Tan Lap area

Ms. Hoang Thi Huong Thao, Manager of Thao Nghia Sewing Group in Tan Lap area, said that the group currently has about 30 workers, with an income of 6-8 million VND. In addition to paying salaries and wages, the group also supports the gas and transportation allowances, and encourages diligence bonuses for women who work regularly. Although the income does not help women get rich, it is stable enough to cover their living expenses and take care of their families.

According to Ms. Thao, at first, the Sewing Group mainly processed goods for the main suppliers, but now it has processed goods for export. This is a great advantage, encouraging women to stick with the Group and be aware of improving their skills and expertise.

"I hope that in the coming years there will be more outlets for the products so that more and more women will have jobs and better incomes," Ms. Thao shared.

Ms. Ha Thi Hong Ha, President of the Women's Union of Luong Son Commune, said that the model of the Sewing Group is one of the typical examples of economic development in the locality, helping many women have stable jobs. The Women's Union of Luong Son Commune has provided practical support to the Sewing Groups in the business process such as creating conditions for loans from policy banks and the TYM Fund. In the coming time, the Union will coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to support loans to solve employment problems, production and business capital... so that the Groups can expand their factories, invest in more machinery, and increase the quantity of goods.

In the coming time, the Association will coordinate with other parties so that the Groups can expand their factories, invest in more machinery, and increase the amount of goods.

At the same time, send group members to participate in capacity building training courses organized by the Women's Union at higher levels to exchange experiences, update knowledge and skills in the management process, connect trade, and find outlets for garment products in the commune.

In conjunction with the movement of women doing good business, the Women's Union of Luong Son commune, Yen Lap district, Phu Tho province, has established suitable and practical models to help women do business. Thereby, many dynamic and creative women have invested in practical and effective models, bringing high economic benefits, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers.
