A gathering of exemplary ethnic minority representatives, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, took place on February 14th to celebrate the New Year.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and approximately 200 delegates representing ethnic minorities in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, in recent times, the city's socio -economic development has continued to experience high growth in both quality and quantity, and the people's living standards have steadily improved. The ethnic minority communities have played a crucial role in this success.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc acknowledged, commended, and thanked the delegates present, representing more than 468,000 ethnic minority people in the city.
The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that the spirit of national unity is one of the very important factors in determining all successes in leadership and guidance aimed at building and developing the city.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc suggested that the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the city should take the lead and closely coordinate with the City People's Council and People's Committee to continue researching, advising, and proposing the issuance of mechanisms and policies on ethnic affairs, further promoting the tradition of the strength of national unity, and building our country to become increasingly prosperous and happy.

Mr. Do Long, a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and representative of the Chinese community, stated that the Chinese community residing in Vietnam in general, and in Ho Chi Minh City in particular, has actively participated in social and public service activities initiated by local authorities and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the city, district, and commune levels, such as: promoting education and talent, caring for the poor, showing gratitude, disaster relief, building charitable houses, and maintaining sponsorship for teaching Chinese language...
Ms. Trinh Thi My Le, Vice-Chairwoman of the Khmer Literature and Arts Branch under the Association of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities in Ho Chi Minh City, and a representative of the Khmer ethnic group, assessed that in recent times, the work of caring for the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities by all levels in the city has been very effective. The city regularly implements policies to address employment, vocational training, capital assistance, and sustainable poverty reduction policies for ethnic minorities.
“Preferential policies for ethnic minorities not only demonstrate the State's concern for the rights of ethnic groups but also contribute to promoting comprehensive and sustainable development for ethnic minority regions. The combination of education, health, economic, and cultural policies will create favorable conditions for ethnic minorities to develop, integrate, and contribute to the overall development of the country,” Ms. Le emphasized.
Mr. Ba Trung Phu, former Head of the Vietnam History Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch and a representative of the Cham ethnic group, expressed his wish for the city to support and organize more street food and costume activities for ethnic minorities, establish ethnic boarding schools, and create more opportunities for ethnic minority children to attend pre-university schools in the city.
