According to information from the Power Project Management Board 2, at 4:38 a.m. on November 26, Unit 1 of the Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion successfully connected to the national grid.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 2 and Director of the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion Project Management Board, said that with the efforts of the investor, contractors, consultants and supervisors, Unit 1 (180MW) of the project was successfully connected to the grid after nearly 3 years of implementing the Ialy Hydropower Plant Expansion project.
In parallel with grid connection, the construction site is urgently completing tasks such as electricity operation license, environmental license, reservoir operation process... in accordance with legal regulations and completing the handover of the project to Ialy Hydropower Company in December 2024.
Currently, Unit 2 has also completed 99% of the equipment installation work, striving to connect to the grid before December 21 to practically celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2024).
The Ialy Hydropower Plant expansion project has a designed capacity of 360MW, including 2 units, invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2) is the unit assigned by EVN to represent the investor to implement the project. The consultant for designing the phases is Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1. The construction supervision consultant is supervised by EVNPMB2. The equipment installation consultant is a consortium consisting of Ialy Hydropower Company and EVN Repair Service Center.
The project is invested in construction to increase the ability to mobilize capacity for loads in the Southern region, especially during peak hours, contributing to improving the operating mode of the power system (such as increasing power and power to cover the peak of the load chart, increasing flexibility in operation, increasing reliability and safety coefficients...), contributing to reducing production costs of the national power system.
The project also aims to maximize the flow capacity by limiting the annual excess discharge, increasing the average annual electricity output value by about 233.2 million kWh/year, contributing to reducing fuel costs for electricity production, reducing CO2 emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels; reducing the working intensity of existing generators, thereby extending the life of equipment, saving maintenance and repair costs.
