On April 23, at the Thai Vi Temple National Historical and Cultural Relic Site (Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District), the Ninh Hai Commune People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the Thai Vi Temple Festival - a traditional festival to pay tribute to and commemorate the merits of the Tran Kings and heroes who have contributed to the country.
Attending the opening ceremony were leaders of Hoa Lu district; representatives of Ninh Hai, Ninh Thang, Ninh Xuan communes and Khanh Hoa commune (Yen Khanh); many tourists and local people.
The opening speech of the Festival stated: The historical and cultural relic of Thai Vi Temple is a place of worship for the Tran Dynasty Kings, Saint Tran and the Queen Mother. To commemorate the Tran Kings who established the Vu Lam palace, the local people built Thai Vi Temple, called Thai Vi Tu, and it was ranked as a National Historical and Cultural Relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1994.
According to traditional customs, on the 15th day of the third lunar month every year, the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and the people of Ninh Hai commune organize the Thai Vi Temple Festival. This is a cultural beauty imbued with humanity and national cultural identity. Through the festival, we commemorate the merits of the Tran Kings, Saint Tran and the Queen Mother. Thereby, we aim to arouse love for the homeland, the country, national pride, promote revolutionary traditions, preserve and conserve unique cultural values of the locality.
The festival is organized at the commune level with many solemn rituals such as: Temple opening ceremony, palanquin procession, incense offering, and thanksgiving ceremony. In which, the palanquin procession is carried from Dinh Cac yard to Thai Vi temple dragon yard. After the palanquin procession, the delegations and people come to offer incense and worship to pray for a year of favorable weather, good crops, and peace.
The festival with exciting and attractive activities such as boat racing, tug of war, chess, tom diem, folk dance, health care... attracts a large number of locals and tourists to attend.
