The smell of paint still lingers on the newly built walls of the Thanh Truoc village cultural house (Tra Dong commune, Bac Tra My). To build this spacious community activity place, more than 500 square meters wide, the villagers said the "great credit" belongs to the couple Tran Quang Phong - Le Thi Chinh.
Before there was no cultural house, people had difficulty moving around to attend activities and meetings. When there was investment capital to build a cultural house, there was a shortage of space for sports fields and playgrounds for children in the village.
Together with the village mobilization committee and the Tra Dong commune government, Ms. Le Thi Chinh - Head of Thanh Truoc village called on people to donate land and contribute to the construction of the cultural house. With a harmonious marriage, the village head's family took the lead in donating nearly 200 square meters of land to expand the project. Thanks to that, in front of the cultural house there is space to design a volleyball court, badminton court, folk dance court, and spacious playground.

As a party member, I have to be a good example for the community. Contributing to society is also to bless my children and grandchildren to be happy and prosperous in the future. Seeing people happy to have a place to live and travel conveniently warms my heart.

Built on high ground to avoid flooding, besides the communal living area, the Thanh Truoc village cultural house also has a kitchen and clean toilets. This project will be multifunctional, serving as both a place for village activities and meetings and a place for local people to take shelter from storms and floods.

Since the cultural house was put into use, villagers often come here in the afternoon to exercise and have fun. "I am nearly 80 years old, but it is the first time I have seen such a large and beautiful cultural house in my village," said Mrs. Tran Xuan Cam (born in 1945).

Donate land to build a stadium
Passing through the winding roads covered with trees along the way, we arrived at the administrative center of Tra Giac commune (Bac Tra My). There is a newly completed communal stadium, where children are playing with round balls.

Previously, Tra Giac commune stadium was small in scale and had jagged rocks, so people could not participate in sports activities or the local government could not organize outdoor programs. However, since the stadium was upgraded and the rice fields were leveled to expand, village activities have been organized here more often.
“
In 2023, Tra Giac commune resolutely completed the criteria for new rural construction, including the construction of a 5,230m2 communal stadium. Initially, mass mobilization work encountered many difficulties because people did not clearly understand the policies of the Party and the State. But after more than 2 months of mobilization, people gradually understood and enthusiastically cooperated with the local government to donate land.

According to Mr. Bui Van Son - a land official of Tra Giac commune, among the 4 households with land in the sports field planning area, Mr. Ho Van Thuong (village 2, Tra Giac commune) responded positively and donated the most with an area of rice fields up to 1,400m2 . The rice was almost ready to be harvested, but Mr. Thuong did not spare his own property, willing to give up his fields for the common goal.
Mr. Ho Van Thuong said: "When I heard the government say to donate land to build a commune sports field, at first I felt very confused. My family reclaimed the land and grew rice, it was not granted by the government. But after the village and commune authorities explained, I also understood that donating the land was to give the children in the village a sports field, helping the commune to develop more and more, so I happily donated it."
hope to contribute part of wealth to build the embankment
At dusk, Ms. Cao Thi Chien, a Ca Dong ethnic (Tran Duong group, Tra My town) sells fish at Tra Lang market and just returned home. Although she is small and has wrinkles on her face, she is not yet 40 years old, but she still greets guests warmly.
Her family was poor and had many children, so since she was young, Chien had to work hard to make a living. She was loved by the whole village for her gentle and simple personality and lived for the benefit of the community when she donated more than 2,240m2 of land to build the Chu Huy Man embankment.
She said the land on the hill was left by her grandparents who cleared it for farming. Now that the local government is mobilizing to donate land to build an embankment to prevent landslides, she also wants to contribute part of her family's wealth to protect the safety of the villagers. "Working on the farm forever will not make you rich, only by giving and contributing to help others can you live happily" - Chien confided.

Located on the DT616 route, the Chu Huy Man embankment construction site is at high risk of landslides. The mixture of rocks and soil can be dangerous for people building houses at the foot of the hill and the surrounding area, especially during the rainy season.
“
The Chu Huy Man embankment project was planned to be constructed before 2020. However, due to problems with land, compensation, and mobilizing people to donate land, it has only been implemented now. And to construct the embankment, many households have been willing to donate land, including large contributions such as Ms. Cao Thi Chien's case."

For a mountainous district like Bac Tra My, where ethnic minorities account for nearly 50% with 27 ethnic groups, economic development and improving people's lives are always of concern to local leaders. In addition, the district also focuses on models of land donation and part of assets on donated land, promptly praising and rewarding to replicate these models.

Bac Tra My District Party Committee rewards typical examples in 2023.
In 2023, collectives and individuals with achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style such as Mr. Tran Quang Phong, Ho Van Thuong, Ms. Cao Thi Chien... were commended by the Bac Tra My District Party Committee. And in the vast Bac Tra My forest, there are still many fragrant "wild flowers" that need to be spread.
