(NLDO) - Traffic accidents in Ho Chi Minh City have clearly changed, decreasing in all 3 criteria compared to the previous period.
On January 16, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police informed the results after 15 days of implementing Decree 168/2024.
According to PC08, Decree 168 has had clear impacts on traffic order and safety in Ho Chi Minh City.
Common violations such as running red lights, driving on sidewalks, not wearing helmets, etc. have decreased, showing that people's awareness of obeying the law when participating in traffic has changed positively.
At intersections during rush hour, despite the large number of vehicles, the vehicles stop neatly, on the right line, and strictly follow the traffic light signals. These images, although very simple, bring a new look to the traffic of a civilized, modern city.
Traffic accidents have clearly changed, decreasing all 3 criteria compared to the previous period. Specifically, from January 1 to January 14, in Ho Chi Minh City, there were 31 road traffic accidents, killing 14 people and injuring 16 people.
Compared to the previous period, there were 42 fewer cases (-58%), 1 fewer death (-07%), and 40 fewer injuries (-71%).
PC08 also detected and handled 23,924 violations; revoked 3,958 driving licenses; detained 8,898 vehicles, and paid an estimated amount of more than VND87 billion to the State Treasury.
Some common violations include alcohol concentration violations (7,448 cases); speeding violations (2,664 cases); failure to comply with traffic light signals (475 cases); stopping and parking in violation of regulations (1,766 cases)...
PC08 said that from now until the Lunar New Year 2025, the density of vehicles participating in traffic will continue to increase, so the traffic order and safety situation will have complicated developments. Therefore, people's compliance with the law when participating in traffic will greatly contribute to reducing traffic accidents and traffic congestion.
This unit recommends that people proactively learn about travel routes before participating in traffic, and at the same time, strictly follow the regulation and guidance of the Traffic Police force to ensure safety and convenience.
