After last season’s dramatic race in Phu Yen, everyone expected Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa and Le Thi Tuyet to create another exciting competition in Quang Tri. Both did so on the routes of Tien Phong Marathon 2025.

However, if last year Le Thi Tuyet took the lead very early and maintained the lead for more than half the race, now she was with Ngoc Hoa from the start. This continued for a long time, until after both had run for about an hour and a half, Ngoc Hoa suddenly took the lead and maintained a steady pace. Meanwhile, Le Thi Tuyet gradually fell quite far behind.

After about 30km, Ngoc Hoa created a gap of about 500m with Le Thi Tuyet. What happened was completely opposite to Tien Phong Marathon 2024. Under the cool and rainy weather conditions in Quang Tri, instead of the harsh sun of Phu Yen, Ngoc Hoa took control of the race, walking steadily while Le Thi Tuyet patiently ran behind.

Fans of Le Thi Tuyet hoped for a final breakthrough, but that did not happen. Ngoc Hoa was too excellent and never slowed down. Entering Hung Vuong Street, the athlete from Binh Phuoc did not change her speed, eventually reaching the finish line first. She successfully defended the championship she won last year in Phu Yen.

If there was one thing that Ngoc Hoa was not happy about on the day of her coronation, it was the unexpected fall right at the finish line. However, this only emphasized Ngoc Hoa's excellence. In the rainy, slippery and humid conditions, she still maintained her concentration, stability and determined running steps.

So there was no change of position in the full marathon this year. If there was any surprise, it was that Le Thi Tuyet not only could not surpass Ngoc Hoa, but also fell further behind. She only finished 5th, after Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, Bui Thi Thu Ha and Pham Huynh Yen Thu.
