According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), through the Plant Protection Department, the MARD sector and CropLife Vietnam have agreed to implement a cooperation project for the next 5 years with a more comprehensive, in-depth and long-term approach to support the sustainable and responsible application of plant protection products in Vietnam.
On the afternoon of January 11, 2024, the Plant Protection Department and the CropLife Vietnam Association signed a cooperation plan to implement the program "Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework" in 2024 - marking the first year of realizing the contents of the cooperation framework to implement this program in the period (2023-2028) between the Plant Protection Department and CropLife Asia.
Accordingly, the Plant Protection Department and CropLife Vietnam agreed to implement the next 5-year cooperation project with a more comprehensive, in-depth and long-term approach to support the sustainable and responsible application of plant protection products in Vietnam, promoting a systematic transformation in the management and use of plant protection solutions.
Previously, in July 2023, the Plant Protection Department and CropLife Asia signed a cooperation agreement on the Sustainable Pesticide Management Framework (SPMF) Program for the period 2023-2028. The program continues to demonstrate CropLife's commitment to supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Plant Protection Department in the transition to more sustainable food and environmental systems to protect human health, protect the environment and improve the quality of agricultural products.
Under the Partnership, CropLife will help maximize industry efforts, promote the implementation of a framework for the use and management of sustainable crop protection solutions while accelerating the application of scientific innovation in agriculture.
Signing the cooperation program "Framework for Sustainable Pesticide Management" in 2024, the two sides will officially specify and implement activities under this cooperation framework.
The main contents to be implemented in 2024 include: Reviewing, evaluating and perfecting the system of policies on management and use of plant protection drugs in a scientific, advanced manner, in harmony with international standards and regulations of other countries; promoting the application of advanced solutions on plant protection drugs; building platforms, training, coaching and innovating approaches to improve the effectiveness of responsible, safe and effective use of plant protection drugs; promoting communication about the role of plant protection drugs, applying new solutions...
Mr. Huynh Tan Dat - Director of Plant Protection Department said: "After signing this cooperation agreement, the two sides will continue to work together to clearly identify priority tasks and details of each content to implement in the coming time according to plan and effectively".
Mr. Dang Van Bao - Chairman of CropLife Vietnam shared: “We believe that strengthening cooperation with state management agencies and industry partners in Vietnam is a prerequisite to ensure the success of the project, so we are very pleased to have always received the support and coordination of the Ministry's leaders and the Plant Protection Department for our proposals and activities”.
