Continuing the working trip to the Republic of Cuba, the Hanoi delegation led by Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Nguyen Lan Huong laid flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument in the Park named after him in the capital Havana and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba.
In front of the Ho Chi Minh President Monument, the delegation respectfully offered flowers and commemorated President Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the Vietnam - Cuba relationship, a special, loyal and pure friendship.
At the flower offering ceremony, the delegation was introduced to the design of the space of the Monument and the process of forming this historically valuable place. The Monument of President Ho Chi Minh was designed by architect Joel Diaz - Vice President of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, and inaugurated in 2003. The Monument is located on a red marble base, 54 square meters wide, symbolizing the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. In the middle of the marble base is a 5-pointed star made of yellow flowers - the image of the Vietnamese National Flag. The stone pedestal is made of white marble without any decoration or pattern, reminiscent of the image of Uncle Ho "a life of purity, without gold or silver."
The upper protective frame consists of four red painted iron bars standing out against the green trees of the Park, connected to form a pyramid symbolizing the Vietnamese conical hat. Of the four iron bars, three represent the three predecessor organizations of the Communist Party of Vietnam, including the Indochinese Communist Party, the Annamese Communist Party and the Indochinese Communist Federation; the remaining bar represents the Communist International.
The convergence point right at the top of the monument is the honor of President Ho Chi Minh in uniting revolutionary forces to work towards the common goal of national liberation. The thick bamboo grove behind the monument creates a familiar landscape similar to Vietnam, the ancient trees behind remind us of the mountains and forests of the Viet Bac and Dien Bien Phu resistance zones, where Uncle Ho lived and led the Vietnamese revolution.
This is a familiar space for those who love Vietnam. Local people, from the elderly to children, are familiar with the shady trees surrounding the Uncle Ho Monument - a noble symbol of the special exemplary friendship throughout history between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
During the working program, the Delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba. Receiving and working with the Delegation was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Cuba Le Quang Long.
According to the Ambassador, the Vietnamese community living and working in Cuba, although not large, has achieved certain results, which have been recognized by the Cuban Party and State. Investment activities of Vietnamese enterprises and Hanoi have initially appeared in Cuba in a number of fields, including the production of construction materials. Vietnamese students in Cuba are mainly on government scholarships and have many outstanding achievements in their studies.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi sent his regards to the staff of the Embassy and overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working in Cuba.
Informing the Ambassador about the cooperative relationship between Hanoi and Cuba, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong said that in recent years, delegations at all levels from Cuba and Hanoi have regularly visited each other. In June 2023, the Hanoi Party Committee and the Havana Party Committee signed a Cooperation Agreement for the 2023-2028 period during the visit of a high-ranking delegation from the Havana Party Committee to Hanoi.
Based on the signed Cooperation Agreement, Hanoi agencies and units are promoting cooperation with agencies of Havana City. The Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of the City maintains regular relations and cooperation with the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi.
On behalf of the delegation, the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city sincerely thanked the Embassy for its coordination and support and hoped that the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba would continue to pay attention and coordinate to promote the image of the capital; promote the friendly relationship between Hanoi and localities in Cuba, especially in 2025, when Vietnam and Cuba celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960-2025).
