In recent years, the Provincial Library has not only been a place to display books and newspapers; serve readers on-site and lend them, but also a useful space and playground to nurture and develop the talents and interests of students in the province. Every year, the Provincial Library has implemented a variety of cultural and artistic activities, competitions through a series of outstanding activities such as: Celebrating the Party, celebrating spring, summer activities, responding to Book Day and reading culture...
In particular, activities are constantly innovated, created, and promoted towards the grassroots, remote areas, and ethnic minority areas. For example, recently the Provincial Library organized a series of activities from January 23 to February 29. In addition to serving and displaying on-site publications of newspapers and magazines, the Provincial Library also launched photo contests, painting contests, and online contests to learn about the history of the Party, homeland, and country, attracting more than 3,000 candidates who are students, union members, and youth from schools in the province to participate. Although the implementation time was quite short, within 1 month, the high number of candidates responding showed the attraction and close coordination between the Provincial Library and the units in the organization, especially the flexibility in organizing both online and offline platforms, creating conditions for students to have the opportunity to experience and have fun besides their study time. Katơr Gio Nha, class 8/2, Thuan Bac Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, participated in the painting contest and won the Encouragement Prize. She said: I am very passionate about drawing and painting, but there are few contests organized for me to compete and show my talent. After the school informed me, I registered to participate and won the prize. This is not only my joy but also my family's. With the meaning it brings, many parents and families trust, support, and accompany their children to participate in activities organized by the Provincial Library. Thanks to that, it contributes to attracting and developing the number and target audience of readers to the library.
The provincial library attracts many readers of all ages.
Mr. Dinh Xuan Huong, Director of the Provincial Library, said: Recognizing the important role in sharing knowledge, serving the people's reading and lifelong learning, the Provincial Library has been implementing many activities to serve readers. In addition to the province's attention in building facilities, fully equipping equipment and book sources, in recent times, library staff have always upheld the spirit of responsibility, innovation and creativity in performing their tasks. In particular, focusing on improving the attitude and quality of on-site reader service through issuing and exchanging reading cards; building spacious and clean reading spaces; arranging books and documents to be changed according to each event and topic to create novelty. Along with that, the library organizes the delivery of books and newspapers for mobile service throughout the province; circulates documents to agencies, units and schools, especially in remote and mountainous areas, thereby shortening the gap in enjoyment and developing reading culture between regions. In 2023, the library served 818,923 readers, reaching 910% of the plan, and nearly double that of 2022.
Grasping the trend of shifting to reading books on online platforms, the library focuses on promoting the application of information technology, bringing newspaper and magazine publications to digital platforms such as: Building a column to introduce new works, information publications on the provincial library website system, Facebook, YouTube; digitizing rare and unique documents, and specialized documents. In particular, in mid-2023, the provincial library deployed additional services for readers on Saturday mornings, bringing a "new wind" to create conditions for readers to have more time to come to the library to exploit and use document funds for studying, researching, and entertaining.
Through practical and useful activities, along with efforts and attempts in innovating operating methods, the Provincial Library has increasingly affirmed its role as a bridge of knowledge, contributing to maintaining and forming a "reading generation" and a learning society in the future.
